Tyrone Cook | 1 comments I write my own poetry and short stories, I am trying to write my autobiography too. But can anyone recommend a publisher (or even how to self publish?).

Thank you

The Cuba Press (Wellington based) might be worth a look. They publish poetry, short story collections and autobiography as well I think and have a range of possible arrangements.

cheers,
Melinda

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1760 comments Do you want to try to publish with local magazines and journals or a traditional publisher?
AND
How much money do you have? You pay up front to use a local printer/self publisher in NZ.
BUT
If you want to be an Indie and self publish, Tyrone, then you need to understand the basics and not just dash into Amazon.
LOOK AT:
www.indiesunlimited.com - it's a prize winner and honest!
Start at this website run by Indies and full of articles from the basic how do I self publish? right up to which is best for what and
how to market etc.
If you really do go Indie it is like anything you do, you spend 3/4 of your time preparing before you paint the room/publish the book etc. You know what I mean. Learn the ropes first, and remember that Amazon only works for itself and that Smashwords and Kobo and Streetlib publish and distribute. And if it's print and ebook you want then IngramSpark.com is - at the moment - producing a better product than Amazon and they distribute across the globe.
N.B.
Kob and Streelib also offer you a place to write/paste your work and shape it into a book which might suit you.
SO
Start with the articles at Indies unlimited and go from there.
Good luck, once you've got an idea of what and how to do it then it's a doddle. :)
