Once the reading challenge starts, you can come over here and share the first book you're reading! Maybe you'll find someone else reading the exact same one?

Have you finished a book? Tell us as well! Maybe even add some of your thoughts about the book. Did you enjoy it? Or didn't you?

What's going to be your next read?

Every small progress you make, you can share here! Even if you just want to talk about a huge event that just occurred and you need to shout about it for a bit.

Krystal (krystallee6363) Planned reads:
Wolf Hall
The Golem and the Djinni
The Cruel Prince
North Star Guide Me Home
Saint X
Beauty in Thorns
The Club
Angel Mage
Crossings
Seven Cleopatra Hill

Currently reading:
The Cruel Prince

So I'm starting on track, hooray! Definitely in the mood for fantasy atm although the weather is turning dreary and cold so I feel horrors and thrillers coming on XD

NAT.orious reads ☾ (thevoiceofthewolf) | 37 commentsInto the Gray - done: this was probably my most spontaneous read ever and so worth it!

Gods of Jade and Shadow - done: i was nosy the moment I got declined for it on netgalley but in hindsight it wasn't that great. not bad either, but ... I dunno.

Finale - done: i was so ready for this book but only because I knew the series would be finally over. definitely not something I'd recommend.

The Big Book of Cidermaking: Expert Techniques for Fermenting and Flavoring Your Favorite Hard Cider, from Sweet, Bubbly, Botanical, or Hopped to Barrel-Aged Apple Brandy and Pommeau - done: i needed this nostalgia like fish need water. please let me be right one day so i can make my own cider

What You Wish For - done: lame from beginning to end

More Than Maybe - done: I'm pretty sure this is a severe case of 'it's me'.

Ocean Light - done: no. just no. This month ain't my month.

The Institute - done: underwhelming from beginning to end.

The Anti-Virginity Pact - done: heck yes.

The Glass Scepter - done: the best one in the series yet.

Bonded in Blood - done: surprisingly, i found a lot of value in this one.

Ravaged - done: all the stereotypes were there and I fucking liked it. go sue me.

100 Cookies: The Baking Book for Every Kitchen, with Classic Cookies, Novel Treats, Brownies, Bars, and More - done: i want to bake them all instantly.

Artemis - done: loved the science but didn't care for the plot.

The Man Behind the Monster - done: boring.

DNF.

Women Who Kill - done: not the content i was hoping for, highly outdated und ommitting the nasty parts of the justice system (racial discrimination).

By Design - done: shows how disgusting christianity can be.

message 11: by Fefe (new)

Fefe | 18 comments Finished Shadow and Bone yesterday and it was pretty standard. Very tropey in the beginning, easy writing that wasn't as flowery as other fantasy books. Alina got so much on my nerves because of "I'm not pretty like the other girls" talk, none of the love interests were interesting, the middle with the whole magic-training setting dragged the pacing, the villain was underdeveloped (which the identity of said villain isn't revealed until 3/4 of the book but people say who they are when describing the book? isn't the whole point of the revelation to be a "plot twist"??)
It was a very standard book, but it was Leigh Bardugo's debut so I will give her a pass. I don't know if I should continue with the series or jump straight into Six of Crows because I heard mixed things on the second book.
Also, hot/unpopular take, but I was shipping Alina and Genya throughout the whole book and I wish they were a couple
3/5

The whole trilogy pales in comparison to the six of crows duology. I read SoC first and was annoyed I didn't get some of the references but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. That being said, I was lucky to go into S&B blind so the villain took me by surprise. Would definitely have been ruined to know beforehand!

Meanwhile I finished my first, The Cruel Prince, and was also pretty underwhelmed. It was all over the place and dark in all the wrong places. My full review is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Still on track reading book 2 off the list, but have also veered a little. I dropped some books off to a little library yesterday and happened to find Force of Nature which I've been keen to read! So I brought it home and started it last night.

I also decided for some reason that now was a good time to make a concentrated effort to finish Mao's Last Dancer.

Krystal (krystallee6363) Well, perfectly in the vein of mood reading, I've thrown out all of my reading plans to impulsively re-read LOTR.

Miss Kitten’s Corner (misskittenscorner) | 55 comments Sooo…. I just finished Every Heart a Doorway and have to wait for the next audiobook to come into my possession from my library on Libby. I started Caraval and I'm like 8% in and it's so boring to me.

Here are some books I'm thinking about picking up:
House of Scarlett (Legend Trilogy, #2) by Meghan March The Rose (The Red, #2) by Tiffany Reisz Shadow Wolf (Moon Marked, #2) by Aimee Easterling

Or does anybody have any fantasy recommendations?

Emma | 22 comments Okay, here's my progress so far <3

I read the Nightingale and Anne of Green Gables, and I'm currently working on both Aurora Rising as well as Yes, No, Maybe So! My goal is to finish those two, then do the read-a-thon this weekend and tackle Dear Sweet Pea & It Sounded Better in My Head! I *mayyy* be able to squeeze in another book after that, but I most likely will just start another and finish in June. We'll see, though!

message 30: by Tari (new)

Tari (thann) | 86 comments I got one of my two books done that I listed, Pit Perfect Murder Renee George 5/7/20. It was a good mystery and had a crazy sweet dog in it. I feel like it was a real accomplishment because it was a longtime freebie I'd been trying to get around to reading. And everyone knows how those freebies multiply especially with authors being so super generous the last couple of months. :) And yep, I did review it here and Amazon.
