6% Done.

I just started this book yesterday and am already engulfed by the story. It is just a simple and classic way of storytelling and it moves so smoothly. It is told by two perspectives. It is told by Liza, a young lady from Vancouver who was just informed that her father is moving both her family and their store up to the Yukon to Dawson City to take opportunity to start their business during the Gold Rush. You get to hear her struggle and her families struggles with this situation. The story is also told by Ben, a young new constable to the North West Mounted Police. In his perspective you learn early on that he has temper issues and it struggling to keep it in check. You also learn that he has a great deal of pride and determination. I so far love both characters but secretly I love Ben more as he has more going on that I would love to see how it turns out.

This is a great canadian book so far by a very talented canadian author. Loving it so far.

This is a brilliant book. Truly a brilliant Historical novel of Canadian History with just a hint of romance. From Dawson City to being the remote and yet still fabulous city rich with history today as it was starting out. To the terrible tragedy of Frank, Alberta. You laugh. You cry. You get super angry at some characters and why? Because how Genevieve Graham writes this fantastic novel, Ben, Liza, and Sgt. Eb Thompson become your friends and family as you continue to learn and read about their adventures. You cry when you hear about Ben getting trapped. Tears roll when you hear that Liza loses everyone that she knows in her family and becomes stranded on a Mountain with people she doesn't know and still moves on to carry the family dream.

Pick up this book. You would not regret it.
