bob morrell (wallet55) | 9 comments If you enjoyed The Martian as much as I did, particularly if you enjoyed the first part with the narrative tension of the Earth discovering the main character's survival and then establishing communication, then you will enjoy the non fiction Deep Down Dark, the authoritative retelling of the trapped Chilean miners. While the characters are radically different, (though NASA does make an appearance in Deep Down Dark), the story reminded me so much of the Martian that I went back and Listened to the first part of the Martian again. And I will say that Deep Down Dark does make you appreciate where The Martian chose to end its narrative all the more. Still, highly recommended!

As someone who has worked in the mining industry for 30 years (5 years underground, also a Copper/Gold mine) This is something I think that would resonate with me.
I will give it a go.

Just don't tell me how it ends ;-)
