Maria, have you tried Melissa Tagg's Walker Family books? That series is my favorite of hers so far. Here they are in order:
Three Little Words (Walker Family, #0.5) by Melissa Tagg From the Start (Walker Family, #1) by Melissa Tagg Like Never Before (Walker Family, #2) by Melissa Tagg Keep Holding On (Walker Family, #3) by Melissa Tagg All this Time (Walker Family, #4) by Melissa Tagg A Place to Belong (Maple Valley) by Melissa Tagg

Chris asked:

"I'm looking specifically for audio books. I enjoy sci-fi and fantasy books but to find that it's difficult. I enjoyed the Nancy Moser books back when she used to write non romance. But her books are not available on audio.

Any other type of books that you would recommend?

I wanted to add that I don't like tearjerkers tragedies. I like happy fiction that is really interesting and won't put me to sleep.

It's hard to find books without swear words or taking the Lord's name in vain."

Any thoughts, friends?

I don't read a lot of fantasy or scifi. Of the ones I've read and enjoyed, I'm sure C.S. Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia are in audio format. They're some of my favorite fantasy stories, particularly The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe; Prince Caspian; and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

I enjoyed the first of Anne-Elisabeth Stengl's Tales of Goldstone Wood series, Heartless, but I don't recall if it's also a romance or not, as it's been years since I've read it. I also don't know if it's on audio, as I read the Kindle copy I own.

message 65: by Angie (new)

Angie Thompson (angiethompson) | 157 comments I don't read a lot of fantasy, but I devour clean sci-fi when I can get my hands on it! I don't know if you mind stories aimed at a slightly younger audience, but the Quest for Truth series by Brock Eastman (MG to YA) is available in audio, as is the first in the Firmament series by J. Grace Pennington (YA).

Taken
Radialloy

I do have a few other sci-fi recs, but those are the only ones I know of that are in audio.

Ronie Kendig has a para-military series - not sure if that qualifies but was good and she has two fantasy series but only one I can see in audio:

Karen Witemeyer books always make me laugh. She writes romcom westerns.

Melissa Tagg and Tari Faris write lighthearted romcoms.

I have heard Regina Jennings writes funny books too, but I haven’t yet tried one.

I agree for sure with Karen Witemeyer and Regina Jennings. Although the historical romance line, there is also Jen Turano.

For contemporary, Kara Isaac, Nicole Deese and Bethany Turner typically have humor in their novels.

I love reading novels with a dash of humor.

Katherine Bartlett | 26 comments I need some recommendations for books like For Love or Country (The MacGregor Legacy, #2) by Jennifer Hudson Taylor

Christian/Clean:
Morgan L. Busse has some really nice sci-fi and Fantasy. Really enjoyed them a lot.
Chronicles of Narnia for sure
Ted Dekker
Lord of the Rings

Others:
Chronicles of LonTobyn

Notes: No swearing (though I cannot recall if there was one at the end), not Christian (alternate religion and only one line of disrespect), mild violence and some death (but not gratuitous; I dislike violence so for me this is a huge one), no sex (there is an allusion to it, but it was a blink you missed it when I was 16 lol), some ghosts are involved, and one of the few fantasy series I truly enjoyed and would come back to.

These are a couple of Revolutionary War books I enjoyed. I'm not sure they have the exact Patriot/Red Coat romance you're looking for, but they were still really great books.

Ring of Secrets (The Culper Ring, #1) by Roseanna M. White A Heart's Revolution by Roseanna M. White

message 86: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (gr-nancy-a) | 310 comments Okay CFD readers .. please tell me the author’s name who wrote this thriller. Heroine is an FBI profiler. She goes after serial killers. She definitely has quirks .. sometimes talking to people not there. She’s very solitary.
My group leader is interested by the synopsis I gave her tonight .. but I can’t remember the author!
I know many of you read it . and liked it much better than I did :) Thank you 4 your help.

Try Abebooks.com as they carry a lot of the older books. They are used, quite reasonable, and many ship free.

message 94: by Kara (new)

Kara | 2 comments Hello, this might be a long shot but I am trying to remember a book that I read back in 2006. It's historical fiction that takes place in England. I can't remember time frame could be Regency period or Victorian period. But what I remember was a lady moved to a new village with I think her family. But the main male character was similar to Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. That's all I remember.

message 95: by Library (new)

Library Queen | 197 comments Is this specifically Christian, or could it be a classic?

message 96: by Kara (last edited Feb 07, 2022 06:02PM) (new)

Kara | 2 comments yes if i remember right it was considered Christian Fiction, by a Christian fiction author. I believe it was published in the 2000s or a little earlier. It was a stand alone not part of a series.

message 97: by Naomi (new)

Naomi Lynn (smilelynn) | 2 comments has anyone read 'A Severe Mercy?' I'm looking for more books like that. Or similar to C.S. Lewis. Something that can really make you stop and think Or bring tears to your eyes not because it's sad but because it's so good. This might be a poor description but it's hard to find books like that

message 98: by Josaya (new)

Josaya Okay so I’m looking for a book. It contains 2 donkeys A river overflowing causing a flood a man and his daughter I believe and a journey for shelter. I know this is a long shot but my aunt who is gone now lent me a book when I was ten it was this book. I don’t remember much else to help with finding this book. But I believe an Angel was involved. I never ended up finishing up right now as an adult I would love to find this book and read it. As this story has crossed my mind quite a lot of times over these years and to no avail. Please help me find this book.

message 99: by Becky (new)

Becky | 1 comments Before I had a Goodreads account I read a series that I liked but I don't remember the author or title. It was Christian or Clean Romance. It took place in a small town near Chicago. The first was about an author, I think his name was Christian. Another was about a woman who owned a pharmacy. There was something about the sons of the shop next door trying to break into her pharmacy and maybe setting it on fire. (I think the shop next door was a video rental place, so we are talking about a book series probably written in the 80s or early 90s) I think there were 3 or 4 in the series. Any help you can give would be great.
