Stormie ~ Book Dragon ~ (stormiebookdragon) | 41 comments I was just wondering if I am on a team yet? I seem to be getting every notification from every group. So I am a bit confused here.

Suzanne | 2453 comments Stormie, the notification things are a goodreads profile function - you can enable/disble it for each group in your profile page. But yeah I bet that is confusing!

Stormie ~ Book Dragon ~ (stormiebookdragon) | 41 comments I tried fixing it. This is the only group that does it...I will check the settings again. Thanks!

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Thanks Suzanne - yes that is true it is a GR set up that you can change for notifications (it must be currently on "all topics".
I don't have a spot for you yet Stormie, but will message you when there is one!

Tiina (_tiina_) Is it ok to sign up even though I usually read books in Finnish and at the moment a series that has not even been translated into English so I would be the only one to tell if the book qualifies or not.(Unless there are other Finns participating...) I am honest with the challenge but I was just wondering that would it be a problem for others?

jingles I have a question, and I think I'm still confused about the ruling on this.

Our team has a Reverse Card, a Draw 2 Card, an 8 and a 4 Card.

My question is:

Can my team made read The Eyre Affair|Jasper Fforde - a book I finished reading on 03/10/13, to cover the Reverse Card

And... can we also use that same book for the Draw 2 Card to cover:

Card #8 ('E' title), and Card #4 ('F' Author)?

message 58: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Short answer is no. You need a different card for the Draw 2 to cover the 8&4. Or you can use the reverse card as one of your Draw 2 cards and only cover the 8 OR 4. As a draw 2 only gives you two other cards to cover (not 3 which is in your example)

jingles Thanks, Karen!

Rhonda | 27 comments Is there a tracking spreadsheet of some kind so we can see where we stand in relation to other teams? Hands finished? Points, etc.?

message 61: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Yes I have shared this with the captains, but it is a public document to view.
So if you're interested, I have linked all the totals from all the spreadsheets to this spreadsheet which will give you a point in time reference on team points. Obviously the points are only as accurate as the team captains are up to date with their spreadsheets :)

jingles We're not sure about how to use the surname for Morgan le Fay. Would it be the 'F'?

message 63: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Yes, I'd let that be a L or F, so you can use the F

message 64: by jingles (new)

jingles Thanks, Karen!

message 65: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Hutchinson (kaylahutchinson) So for a book title called "Locked in Stone," would the 7 card work because there is an S in the title, or does the title have to start with an S?

message 66: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments It needs to start with s, so that one can't count as a 6 or 7

I have copied all the randomised cards to your March tab of your spreadsheets - hooray!

NOTE: There are 13 hands for March to stretch your reading goals even further!

Sarah | 1012 comments How long do audiobooks have to be? I thought I'd ordered the unabridged version of I Capture the Castle from the library, but I've ended up with the abridged version, which is only 5 hours long. Is that too short?

The word count is 123,857 of the unabridged version, which is 343 pages on the default edition on GR, 12 hours 18 minutes on the unabridged audio.

I calculate that works out as approximately 50,000 words for 5 hours.

Is that ok???

message 69: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments oh that is annoying when that happens!
yes that should still meet the 40,000 words for the challenge (usually around 3.5 hours)

message 70: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1012 comments Thanks Karen. I was disappointed, I'll probably miss lots of good bits. :(

message 71: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Not sure yet David. We'll probably have a break for a month or so before another team challenge

message 72: by Laura (new)

Laura Karen , is there a deadline countdown?
I may be able to squeeze in one more book!

message 73: by Karen ⊰✿, Avaricious Reader (new)

Karen ⊰✿ | 3767 comments Just by the end of the 30th in your time and then we'll have a deadline for the captains to update the spreadsheets so we can finalise the points!

message 74: by Laura (new)

Laura Thank you
