"My name is Jeremiah Ethan Bennett, Jr., also known as JJ. I'm twelve years old and a spy for the CIA, only they don't exactly know it."

JJ Bennett has never been shot at by Russian spies, broken into a thousand-year-old crypt, or dangled by a piece of rope two hundred feet in the air.

My debut novel, SIXTEEN AND CHANGE, is available –for free– on Kindle Unlimited.
https://amazon.com/dp/B085Z89KBB
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

It’s a coming-of-age exploration of friendship, folklore, a dysfunctional family, and the ramifications of ignoring a dark, forgotten past.

Danny is plunged into a mysterious world of ghostly premonitions and cryptic messages. The more he explores, the more entranced he becomes, into an alternate reality that may never let him leave.

“… as if Stephen King had written Superbad.”
“… where stark reality and fantasy collide”
“... fun and chilling at the same time--highly entertaining.”

Thank you and cheers,

At the heart of A Convenient Catastrophe is a mother that was laid to rest a long time ago. But her secrets were buried much deeper than she ever was.
No one has seen or heard from Caroline Chadwick in decades, not since that foggy afternoon the train plummeted into the depths of the sea supposedly taking Caroline with it.
No one except her daughter Amy, that is.
There was a lot happening back then that Caroline may have wanted to escape, things far different from the way Amy remembers them. But no one seemed to suspect anything, and eventually Caroline's tragic demise became family fact.
Why now does everyone think there are more questions than answers, more lies than truths?
Amy has the answers already, and the ones she doesn’t have she really doesn’t want.
Then comes that Email, and an agonizing decision that has consequences at every turn.

But Belle's past life has been hidden from her, one she is hell bent to rediscover.
Unfortunately, life keeps throwing challenges her way as she struggles to navigate the world of supernaturals
One that came in the named of Dante, who is hell bent on claiming her
His Dark, possessive with a temper that has even the strongest beings cowering in fear just from his name
However, that's not all Belle has to deal with as her dreams are haunted by a golden eyed Beast
One is nothing but cruel while the other one whispers sweet promises to her
A war rages within her mind as she begins to fall for each one
But what happens when the past finally catches up to Belle?
Will she be able to survive the truth or will she break?
Only time will tell as she pushes herself to finding out
One click it takes to find out

message 26: by Finn (new)

Finn Briscoe (finnbriscoe) | 21 comments Here Finn Briscoe,
Fellow author who has recently released his debut novel God is a Mortician, a punk scifi satire of religion, politics, sex. A fast-moving, comedic drama told as a history lesson to the narrator’s son, there’s Jesus, a strong white president who happens to be an albino gorilla, and three aliens from the planet Mortice who extract energy from the semi-intelligent Earthlings through religious worship.

Bubba, who is God to the Jews and Christians, develops an addiction to Peruvian ceviche. Another Mortician, the beautiful Sho-Shota, falls in love with our human protagonist Miguel, the ceviche chef brought to heaven by God to serve the delicious dish for eternity. Threatened with eternal life in heaven’s kitchen, our human hero and his Mortician lover hijack a spacecraft and shag their way around the Milky Way with Butch, a Mortician pilot obsessed with alien reproductive habits. Big-balled brainiacs called Gonaddians oversee the Morticians, and ridiculous bit players mirror some of today’s political anti-heroes. The narrator’s son doubts the veracity of the history lesson, but his dad insists on its significance, and he’s inescapably drawn into the story.

Readers say they’re reminded of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and have commented that the style and story resemble elements of Vonnegut and Hunter Thompson.
With scorching commentary on organized religion, our broken political.
If interested, let me know

The Unnaturals

Hello everyone! I am brand new to the group, as well as brand new to Goodreads in general. "The Unnaturals" is my debut, self-published Dystopian Novel and I would love some feedback!

Blurb:UN-27 is a member of the fiercest fighting force the world has ever known: The Unnaturals.

His human masters have raised and trained him in isolation for as long as he can remember. In that time, they have molded he and his fellow super-soldiers to fulfill a single purpose: protect the Puritan city from the abominations outside of the Great Dome. For centuries, the Puritans remained isolated from the sinful, globalized societies of the world. When the Calamity finally claimed the planet, the Puritans were vindicated. Until the survivors outside approached. Beings that were once human have become something… else.

When his first mission in defense of the Puritan city goes horribly awry, UN-27 will soon discover that perhaps the only source of information he has ever known cannot be trusted and that the abominations existing in the shattered remnants of the world are more than they appear. Will he be able to reconcile the violence of his upbringing with the catastrophic consequences it carries? Or will the legacy of thousands of years of senseless hate claim him?

“This dystopian tale explores the impending state of our planet in which plausible, yet wildly fantastic concepts of human evolution, climate change, and political ideologies are played out.” - Rhianon Eleoff, Editor - DreamVAServices

L. Bailey (lanebailey) | 9 comments My first novel, Planning Vengeance, is FREE on Kindle this weekend (always free through Kindle Unlimited). I'd LOVE to get a review on Amazon or Goodreads for it. Reviews are tough to come by.

Everyone has secrets. Some are big, others are small. Some are very unexpected. But sometimes a small revelation has huge consequences.

Planning Vengeance is an action-packed thriller with car chases, romance and shoot-outs. From the book:
“Did you see that, he has a gun,” Amy exclaimed to Jack as she slammed on the brakes.
She downshifted and booted the gas pedal to the floor. The 302 under the hood was one of the smaller V-8s in Chevy’s lineup, but it was an engine built for speed. And the Z-28 launched forward while the engine screamed. She shot past Paul, who was still reacting to Amy have hit the brakes.
The car got light going over the second little bridge, as the road turned slightly in the middle of the hump, but Amy counter-steered just a little, instinctively, and kept it under control.
“Take a left on Hall Rd. Paul might not even know it’s there. We might lose him,” Jack said quickly.
Amy pushed hard on the brakes again, barely making the hard left on the narrow road as the tires gently squealed, on the edge of their ability.
Hall Rd was an old country road that ran between Beach and Silver Isles Blvd. There were a few ruins of old houses on it, but now it was hardly ever used.
Amy was flying along in second gear when she saw the little BMW behind her. Planning Vengeance (Broken Path Book #1) by L. Lane Bailey

Finn Briscoe (finnbriscoe) | 21 comments Hi! Here a fellow author I will be releasing a new short-read book this week (30 min read), let me know if you would be interested, so you can download It for free!

Finn’s next job takes him out on the Mississippi where a redneck boss isn’t fond of long haired hippies. Will the first mate kick ‘Mary Jane’s’ ass, bust him for pot, or go home to find the donkey man who’s screwing his wife?

If Mark Twain were a baby boomer coming of age during the Vietnam War, maybe he'd have written about the adventures of Finn Briscoe. But since the great Missouri scribe is long gone, Finn himself is doing his best to carry on the literary tradition of his native state.

Also, happy to connect and be friends here and on Instagram :)

Michael Scharen | 147 comments New Group for Connecting Authors to Reviewers

Hello Everyone!

As a new author as well as a new member of goodreads.com I scouted around the website following various discussions. I felt a lot of us were talking past each other. There may be other groups, such as this, where folks connect up for reviews, but I did not find it. So, I created this one a few days ago.

Authors' Review Exchange

The idea is that authors with similar genres or similar interests could connect up to read each other's work to provide a review on goodreads.com at a minimum. In an interview, one of the officers of goodreads recently stated that this site is driven by reviews in order to recommend books, whether it is quality, quantity, or final star rating, he did not say. I look at all three. It works rather like NetFlix, he said. The goal of the group -- -- is for authors to take time out of their busy schedules to read one other work to review in exchange for another author doing the same. New authors, especially, need to get on the board to start with. As the man said in the movie Moneyball, "What we need is to get men on base."

Cheers!

Michael J. Scharen

Ruthie (ruthieram_reads) | 25 comments Hello!

I'm an avid book reader and reviewer and I run a bookstagram @ram_reads with 1,600 followers

I love helping to support indie published(small publishing house) and self-published authors.

You can hire me to read, review (on Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc), create creative feature Instagram/TikTok posts, and conduct an Author Interview with you on Instagram. I have various packages to choose from and my pricing is very reasonable.

I've already worked with several self-published authors and you can reach out to them to see what they thought of my work.

Jenny White author of Break The Chains A story of love against all the odds by Jenny White

Jo Gache author of Zalkea Origins by Jo Gache

Katie Masterman author of The Doll House by Katie Masterman

and AJ Navab author of Daybreak by A.J. Navab

Send me a message here on Goodreads, an email at [email protected], or check out my Instagram page @ram_reads to see what the posts would look like and send me a direct message there.

I'll read your synopsis first to see if it sounds like something I would enjoy reading, I read almost anything.

Paying for a review/creative social media posts doesn't guarantee a higher star review. The payment is for my time and for the reach of my platform.

I look forward to hearing from y'all!
