Caleb | 2 comments It seems like a lot of Christian fiction books are in the late 1800's or early 1900's or maybe its just me.
Why can't it take place in a more modern day time. What is your thoughts about it.

message 13: by Ausjenny (last edited Dec 16, 2011 07:41PM) (new)

Ausjenny | 76 comments There are quite a lot christian contemporary books out at present as well as the historical books.

There are several contemporay books. LI has a huge contemporary line and then you have people like Karen Kingsbury, Dee Henderson, Francine Rivers(she has a few set in modern day times), Loree Lough, Melody Carlson, etc...here's a link to Contemporary Christian authors on CBD http://www.christianbook.com/Christia...

Jeanie (grannyjeanie) | 3 comments OK, I'm a 70 (nearly) year old grandmother, retired from the medical field . I read about 2-5 books a week.have been a reader since about 1950. I am divorced but not unhappy about it.
I like all genre of Christian fiction plus, some clean secular fiction. I prefer to read a book rather than an e- reader.
I have 3 grandchildren....one of which inherited my love of the printed word! The other 2 are too young to appreciate books as yet.

Nevine | 13 comments Ladies,
I loved loved loved REDEEMING LOVE and MARK OF THE LION trilogy, Voice in The Wind & Echo in Darkness by Francine Rivers. I cried because these books were so emotional and the author did a superb job. Anyone of you recommend a book that comes close to these books??

message 33: by Louana (new)

Louana Plunkett | 1 comments Hello, I am Louana Plunkett, new to Goodreads and obviously this group. :) I am an Indie author with two books, When We Grow Up and Hollywood Lies.
MY favorite Christian Romance writer is Francine Rivers. She keeps it real, digs uncomfortably into the human nature and always shows the victory of the spirit over the flesh in a hard-to-put down inspiring story.
Personally, I have five children and soon to be seven grandchildren. I recently decided to become a "goat herder" in my free time and have a small group of Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats.

message 37: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (creativecountry0407gmailcom) | 136 comments I'm Natalie. I joined the group a few months ago , but I haven't managed to do my introduction yet, If I did it, I seemed to have misplaced where I put the post. Maybe it was in one of my other groups. Some of my favorite authors are Jerry S Eicher, Kathleen Fuller, Shelley Shepard Gray, Laura V Hilton, Beverly Lewis, and Marta Perry. I read a lot of Amish romance and have read a handful of the Love Finds You In novels. I'm 20 and in college. I'm hoping to become a caregiver. I love to write so I am hoping to combine both for money somehow. I love to travel and watch TV in my spare time. I swim with my local Challenger swim team sometimes and am now taking one-one--one art therapy. I have a nephew who is turning one who keeps me on my toes when he's here. I'm currently writing several, unfinished Amish romances, a few of which you should be able to pull up on here.

message 38: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Welcome Natalie!!! ;) I love to write also and I have only written one Christian romance book but I didn't publish it. I just joined this group a couple weeks ago and am loving it so far. What are the names if your books?

message 39: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (creativecountry0407gmailcom) | 136 comments @Melissa: I'm pretty sure the ones I have on here are called Rachel's Challenge, Amanda's Prayer, and Rebecca's Test, which all deal with three Amish sisters and their daily trials. Can you still access your book you didn't publish? If so, I would like to read it to get inspiration for my upcoming books and edist to my current ones.

message 40: by Melissa (new)

Melissa @Natalie those books all sound great and I can't wait to read them. No there isn't but I might be able to figure out a way to get it to you. I will message you if I do!! :)

message 41: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (creativecountry0407gmailcom) | 136 comments @Melissa: Ok. Thanks. there are a lot of names in my books. I might be a challenge to keep the characters straight because I haven't managed to set up a complete family tree at the moment.
