Emily Dicey Wonder- R.J.Palacio

This book represents so many things. It touches on topics such as bullying and self-acceptance. I read it when I was 12 and it was eyeopening.

The main character Auggie is faced with many struggles as he battles through childhood with the facial differences he was born with. When Auggie finally goes to school for the fifth grade he is only faced with more anxiety- but with new friends and a supportive family, things might change.

I would say that the book would be appropriate for KS2 and beyond. I found this resource online that had teaching resources and ideas surrounding the book which when I looked through seemed interesting: https://www.puffinschools.co.uk/resou...

I think Wonder reminds me of books where there is something that needs to be overcome. The author has written books from the other perspectives of people around Auggie. There is also a book called 'We're All Wonders' which I thought was nice, and I think this focuses more on pictures. I found an interesting video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWOuo...

The video had a wonderful message: 'look with kindness and you will always find wonder'
