What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read a book a long time ago and would like to find it.
It was science fiction, about a group of people with special abilities, working for an organisation. The main character can talk to electronic devices and influence them. I believe he has lost his memory and the others from his group are now after him.
I only recall that another member of the group could induce illusions with other people - make them see things that aren't real.
Does anyone know this book or story?

I think I have read the book about 1995.
I now remember that the other former team member, when inducing illusions with other people, resulted in a smell of flowers, if I recall correctly.

Why are they pursuing the guy who lost his memory? Who runs this organization and what's their goal?

I think the book is for YA or adults.
I believe the team used to undertake criminal activities using their abilities. The main character is now a liability, and must be gotten rid of.

If this helps: the author uses "tic tic" or "tic toc" as a clicking sound when the main character is connecting his mind to some electronics in the neighborhood.

I have found it! It is Coils, by Roger Zelazny and Fred Saberhagen.
Apparently, the sound was 'click' instead of 'tic' :-)
