I'm going to finish up Armed & Magical today and hopefully start this one tonight. :)

So, I'm about halfway through the book right now.

(view spoiler)[I was so excited to read that this book was going to give us more info on Li Lei, however, I'm rather disappointed that I've come to 50% and really haven't seen her at all. I do like getting all the info I can on the dragons, but there's not a ton of that either.

So far it's a lot of questions and not a lot of answers. I can only hope that the second half will give me what I'm looking for in spades.

I'm interested in finding out exactly how Li Lei is going to fix all this or if now Lily has the means to fix it or what.

I enjoyed the interactions between Rule and Isen. I'd also like to see Rule and Benedict talk it out or fight it out or something. (hide spoiler)]

It really is, but at least I'm comfortable. Now that I can stretch the doses out longer, I'm regaining a bit of clarity. Even the dog looks at me funny. Wait...maybe that's paranoia? *j/k*

Love the synopsis on this book! I hope we finally get some Grandmother time! I'm waiting patiently..

Chapter 1: (view spoiler)[Dinner at the Clanhome should be interesting, but I expected more discussion between Rule and his father about taking both mantels. I get that a chosen one is highly precious and meant to be protected, but did anyone else think he took that whole scenario a little too easily? (hide spoiler)]

Li Lei has led one crazy life. Still waiting to see more interaction between her and Sam. We'll see if that ever happens.

I enjoyed the action in this section of the book. I wish there had been more...maybe that it had been a bit more detailed. I think that's one of the issues I have with this author. Shes goes in the directions I want and like, but it's always a little short of what I'm hoping for. When compared to some of my other favorite urban fantasy stories, this series just doesn't quite live up. However, that being said, I am definitely still enjoying these books. (hide spoiler)]

Just finished. So, overall, I thought this was good, but not great. I'm still feeling like I don't have the info I want...that I thought I would get based on the blurb. However, this book kept my attention and was enjoyable. :) Looking forward to seeing what you two think of it.

I finished earlier. I enjoyed, but I agree with you Katie, I feel that a lot of information is held back.

I do like this series, it's just missing something for me to love. I will definitely continue and look forward to the next adventure.

Poor Cullen! Chapter 11/12: (view spoiler)[Well, I'm assuming whatever attacked him has gone after Grandmother and Li Lei, too. I hate that it's taking me forever to get through this. It's not the book...it's my fuzzy head. Anyway...

Danielle...I agree with your spoiler in Post 9 (Ch. 11) I really have grown attached to these characters and I've kept going to see what happens to them. There are times the author blows me away and other times the story is missing some "spark" or "AHA moment that really trips my "cool book" trigger. Mortal Danger is my favorite. (hide spoiler)]

I really do like how this one is setting up, although I don't think it should've taken 12 chapters to get where we are. I really think if the author would deal with one main issue and limit her sub-plots (i.e., the Mantels, the Codex, Toby's powers, Cynna's baby, the Turning...yikes that's a lot of plot bunnies) the books would read better. I also expected the action in this book would center around grandmother, but I'm hereby taking all EW's summaries with a grain of salt. ; )

Hehe! She needs a disclaimer. I wrote one for her:

"Plot listed in summary may or may not happen. If it does, beware of crazed, procreating plot bunnies derailing said story. If the summary doesn't match the book by the last chapter, the author will get around to it in the next book somewhere in the series. Eventually. Maybe."

Just teasing EW! Love Cullen and Grandmother and Sam and Toby and Lily & Rule... These books have some brilliant moments.

I wonder sometimes if being on a deadline negatively affects the author's creative flow? I don't know if I could do it. I write for fun, but tell me I have to get something done by such and such date? Instant writer's block.

I'm about to wrap this up. Chapter 28: (view spoiler)[Loved how Grandmother just shows up. I'm curious about Lily's other abilities now. Mindspeak, yes, but what else? I feel like I'm missing something and should know what that other ability is. Maybe it's buried in plot bunnies. *sigh*

Anyway, how does one become a dragon, then give up the magic like Grandmother did? I want a whole book on JUST Grandmother's past! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I'm stuck on a 3 1/2 stars for this one, 4 if I go by the last ten chapters. I really like her action scenes, but her set up and explanation needs streamlining. I always end these books with more questions! So Lily's other gift is that she can 'share death'...is that like some guide to the other side? What was her True Name? Can she now speak telepathically with everyone, or just Rule? Where was Gan during all of this? Did she go back to Edge?

Argh. So, I'll be reading the next book! Lol!
