2025 Reading Challenge discussion

Happy freaking New Year everyone! I've upped my reading challenge by 100, so we'll see how this works out for me.

Of course I cheat with comics...hopefully lots and lots of comics this year :D

4 out of 5 stars. I'm finally delving into the DC universe, and I'm really enjoying the ride so far. Hopefully all the comic books are as intriguing as this one was to me.

Happy New Year. I haven't thought about comics. My son and daughter are huge comic book fans. We have a comic book store near our home and they both go at least once a week. I might give it a try just to see why they are so fascinated.

I just started reading comic books last year, but I'm really happy that I did. This year I'll be trying out both the DC and Marvel universes, in addition to the single issues I'm currently reading, and trying out Saga and a few other hyped comic series that I didn't know about until recently.

Good luck with your challenge, Leah! I hope you find lots of great new comic series and are able to meet your goal for the year.

4 stars. I really loved the alternate history/world that Scott Westerfeld created here. It was creative, and I'm definitely looking forward to checking out the other books in this trilogy.

4 stars. This was my first Marvel and Hulk read, and I really enjoyed it. Made me cry (not all that hard for a book to do).

4 stars. WTH Warren Ellis. Ya hit me right in the feels in the first couple of pages, and then you kept this entire issue just interesting as heck. I cannot wait for the next issue.

Another 4 star book/graphic novel for the year. I'm pretty sure this isn't indicative of me being lazy with my ratings. I've just been getting better at picking books that I think I'll enjoy.

It's only January though, so I'm sure I'll have some miss picks throughout the year.

I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from this series.

4 stars. Really interesting origin story, and for a superhero I wouldn't have normally gone out of my way to read. I'm really happy the library had this comic in, and I'm happy I took the chance.

3.5 stars. The art is fantastic, and while I enjoyed the story, Superman just wasn't that interesting...and those pants on the young Superman. The hell?

5 stars, but really 1000000000 stars! All the stars! This was my first Brandon Sanderson, but it definitely won't be my last. I fangirled all over this book, and I'm not even sorry.

4 stars. I really enjoyed this second book. The art was spectacular, and I was happy to see how the story progressed.

5 stars for each and every one of those volumes. I know I'm a little behind on this bandwagon, but I'm officially on it.

Another 5 star book for me. I have only read one other book by Holly Black, but I'm definitely going to check out more of her work.

Good to know about the Darkest Part of the Forest - I had just added that to my TBR!

I hope that you end up liking it. I know it'll end up being not for everyone, but I've been on this fantasy binge/kick, so I really enjoyed it.

How is your challenge coming this year, Leah? I see you're currently reading Sabriel-- I really enjoyed that book.
