argh!!! I so badly want summer!! I am so cold every day! I'm in Melbourne, Australia and I truly hate winter here. Luckily winter is really only 2 months or so before it warms up again and it doesn't really get below 40F during the day ever. I know, I'm a wimp lol, but I badly want the summer heat!!

I am just a few countries away, in Hungary, but we barely have spring. We have a few days of sunshine here and there. In between: cold fronts moving in and out with strong winds and temperatures around 17-18 degree Celsius. :(

Yes, the wind has made its presence really known these past few months... I feel like it's constantly windy thouogh that usually isn't the case here.

In other news, there is a very fat pigeon on the tree on the other side of the street and I keep wondering if it really is a pigeon. It's just so huge!

Maybe it's a were-pigeon?

Domestic and feral pigeons like to eat grains and seeds. Feral pigeons will also eat bread crumbs, popcorn and other food left behind by people. If they had to choose between bread and birdseed, a feral pigeon would choose the birdseed, which normally contains a variety of seeds and grains. Domestic pigeons don't have access to lunch leftovers in the park, so their diet consists of their favorite food: grains, including corn, peas, wheat and sorghum. The grains are not cooked or popped — they are fed to the pigeons raw.

Yes, all that, and children-who-aren't-quite-right. And, falafel.

I can with great confidence state that pigeons love sausage rolls and McDonalds happy meals, as my kids and brother respectively have lost plenty of those to the cheeky blighters.

One can only imagine (although I'd rather not...) what a were-pigeon would be willing to consume.

Hahaha, yep, pigeons enjoy a looot more than Google says. Though they are nowhere near as bad as scurries!! One of those cheeky bastards tried to steal a macaroni pie from my hand once! And succeeded with quite a few poor, unknowing students at Aberdeen uni haha. It was hilarious to watch them as they saw their lunch flying off :-))

Well, my step dad has a bunch of feral cats on his property (around 15-20). He feds them, and they're quite docile... but they are still feral cats... so I only trust them where I can see them...LOL...

Every time I go outside - either to take care of laundry or to go pick something from the trees or some spinach, I feel like ever being a side character on birds... or a trespasser of Tybalt's cat kingdom... because even if they look all mellow because of the heat, and sprawled and asleep... I can feel those eyes paying attention to my movements.

Bringing leftovers is also a bit scaring....

on the other hand, we had a few births during easter week... imagine 6 weeks old kitties following you around... cute as pie

Seeing as how I used to live in Aberdeen, and still visit often, I can attest to the voracious appetites those monsters have. Also, if anyone parked outside my house there, no matter what colour their car was when they left it, it would be white with black bits by the time they got back. And stink horribly! :D

When we go to the beach after 4:30/5 PM, we always know when it's nearing 7, cause those darn pterodactyls start invading the sands like we are the ones trespassing...

I didn't used to mind them that much, until one of them decided to go potty all over my favourite coat. I washed it 5 times and still couldn't get the stink out, so threw it away.

I was thinking I had put too many books down because I tend to read longer ones during these because of the points. But I like how it's .1 per page. So I can binge cozies or something if I want.

It was a horrible book but The Devourers has werewolves, travels in India and cannibalism.

Nation has cannibals! and a teensy bit of travel... :)

Hi everyone....so excited to join this round of wheelathon....ive been in a terrible reading rut of late....anyone read a really good book lately?

I always recommend Murderbot (All Systems Red is #1) if you like SF or even if you like character driven books and do not like SF. Otherwise, The Empress of Salt and Fortune, The City We Became, The House in the Cerulean Sea and Things in Jars have all been my favorites this year so far (all five stars and all fantasy but of very different types).

My last five star book was this stand alone. The ending had me thinking for days. Part historical, part murder/mystery and a sort of "road" book.

I've heard Murderbot mentioned a lot lately and it appears they're pretty good. I think I'm going to cave and add the first book to my TBR...

I feel like this year in particular makes me add one book for every book I read. Hmm..

E., the audiobook versions of are also very good, at least I find that the narrator captures Murderbot's character really well. :)

Ohhhhh TJ Klune... I have both The House in the Cerulean Sea and The Extraordinaries on my list for this year. Plus a reread of Green Creek #1 and #2, because I'm stalling to read #3 and #4 is scheduled for October, I think.
