Not long to wait now! Click the clock below for the countdown to the start!

Teams have been created; you can see which team you are in here. Team threads will be opened initially for captains and co-captains to grab the best seats, and then for everyone to start planning their trip on Wheels V!

I was also rubbing my hands with devilish glee to see two teams landed on chartreuse slices (backpacking & zoom calls) - looking forward to seeing the hallucinogenic books they find!

PS: I promise that no team will get the same word twice ;-)

Hemsworth is currently on waiter duty in the captains lounge, but I'll make sure he's on board when we set off ;)

message 364: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments So if I'm reading the rules right about the tasks, we don't have to call dibs on any? We just can't claim more than one book for a task per player. Like I can't read 10 books set in Canada and get task points for each one. But each team member could read a book set in Canada and get the points?

message 365: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12886 comments I'm not sure about hallucinogenic, but I definitely have a renaissance book lined up for the first round :)

Let us know when you've recovered...

As a displaced Scot, I can definitely state categorically that I prefer the bagpipes over the bells!

I'm pretty sure some "aren't British folk queer?!" books will have the phrase too - Bill Bryson or Stuart Maconie maybe?

Do note that the phrase must be morris dancing / morris dancer / morris dance type of variant - the morris element is essential, and ballroom, latin, disco or barn dancing will not be suitable alternatives!

It wasn't actually as bad as what I expected! (though idk what exactly I expected, but this group has made me look up some weird stuff in the past 😂)

I didn't even notice the bells... but now you made me watch another video and it's all I could hear...

oh, and yes, the "Read a book recommended by someone in a different team" is intentionally duplicated

Try being accidentally at a maritime museum on the day they are hosting a Morris dancing festival in the same place...

Two weeks later my ears were still ringing! lol.

what's even better is that there are genuinely different schools of morris dancing, that can hold grudges against each other over the correct way to hold a dibble stick (or whatever. my interest in morris dancing is very shallow!)

Not to be an annoying bung-hole before we even start, but want is considered a recommendation?

Someone from a different team giving it a decent rating?

Or would it have to be Jenny saying "Hey Mistress of Lust, I just read this book full of dinosaur tentacle porn and I think you'll enjoy it"

Or is there going to be a general thread where we can recommend books to the whole Wheel group?

Oh sweet baby jesus, I can only imagine the things on that list.

Though, joking aside, Jenny provides recommendations that are on point to actual quality reading with silly fun ones thrown in for entertainment.

The intention is that you go forth and chat amongst teams, so ideally Jenny suggesting dinosaur tentacle porn in response to a question indicating your keenness for such a book.

It's a fun game, so you won't be penalised for wimping out and just stalking ratings.

I'm not going to set up a general thread for recs.

walk away from the dinosaur tentacle porn!

Okay, thank you Cat. I like the set up to encourage us to go be chatty with other teams.

I'm sure the dino tentacle porn will be found and read this weekend during Quidditch. But a book of that caliber is likely less than 160 pages so I'm not sure it will make an appearance in Wheel. teehee

Is it over 160 pages? Cat is looking for a recommendation.
