*🌹*BONUS ULTIMATE SCAVENGER HUNT ROSES AVAILBLE FOR THIS DATE!!*🌹*
To qualify for this bonus rose, you will need to find a book that fits ALL of the following tasks from this round!
B is for Bed - Read a book with a bed on the cover or in the precis.
To qualify for this task, the book's cover need to show a bed, clearly or implied, i.e. rumpled sheets. Please ask if you aren't sure. 'Bed' or variations of the word, such as 'bedroll', in the precis will also qualify in context. The word 'bed' on the cover will also be allowed in context. This needs to be a person's bed - not a dog bed or a bed of flowers.
A is for April - Read a book initially published in April of any year.
To qualify for this task, the book's initial publication date needs to be in April of any year. If the book has a 'first published date' use that. If one isn't listed, I will be looking for the earliest listed publication date.
C is for Cheek - Read a book with a facial cheek on the cover.
To qualify for this task, the book's cover needs to show a human facial cheek. The cover will need to show at least two adjoining facial features, eyes, lips, nose or ear, to confirm the presence of the cheek on the cover. The presence of two adjoining features will not automatically qualify your book if the cheek is not shown as well - for example, lips and nose but no cheek.
H is for Heartwarming - Read a book tagged as 'sweet' or 'touching'.
To qualify for this task, the book needs to be tagged with something that indicates the book is heartwarming, sweet or touching. If in doubt, please ask.
E is for Enlist - Read a book featuring military characters.
To qualify for this task, the book needs to have a character that is active or former military. This can be indicated in the precis, title, series, tags or lists. The following tags/lists will be allowed: military, vet (not implying veterinarian), veteran, soldier, navy, army, air force, marines, SEAL, Army Ranger, fighter pilot. Combo tags will be allowed IN CONTEXT - so if your book is tagged 'cops_firemen_military', but the precis indicates the hero is a sheriff for example (or even if all the other tags just indicate law enforcement), the book will be disqualified. I strongly suggest you find other qualification if possible - I will be SUPER PICKY with the combo tags.
L is for Loner - Read a stand alone book.
To qualify for this task, the book can not be listed in any series on GR. When I look at the main book page, there can be nothing where the series is typically listed and when I look at other editions of the book, none of them can be listed in a series either.
O is for Ogle - Read a book with at least one naked or nearly naked person on the cover.
To qualify for this task, the book's cover needs to show at least one naked or nearly naked person. I'm looking forward to seeing lots of skin for this task! If they are wearing enough to get service in a restaurant, they are wearing too much to qualify for this task.
R is for Ride - Read a book with a vehicle on the cover.
To qualify, the book's cover needs to have a vehicle on it. For this task, vehicles will only include land vehicles - wagons, buggies, bicycles, cars, trucks, motorcycles, buses or trains. Aircraft or boats/ships will not be eligible.
To make a claim for the Ultimate Scavenger Hunt Rose, post in the Scavenger Hunt thread with all the required information. Each successful claim will earn your team 5 bonus roses!! Ultimate Scavenger Hunt Books may also be posted in your team thread for ease in tracking, but this is not required as they will not count as regular books for this round.
Traditional Scavenger Hunt Roses are available as usual, using all the possible task requirements for R - Rewrite, Rich, Ride and Rogue. Please post these, as usual, in your team thread exactly as they appear in the SH thread.

Q&A:
Q: MM romances are ok for this?
A: Yes, just has to be romance.
Q: When do I have to choose the book(s) I want to read? When do I announce them?
A: You don't have to announce or post which book you select as you do in the PtP, but you have to post when you complete the book with all the required information. It might be helpful to post when you find a book that works - your teammates might be looking for a book too. Or someone could use your book as a second book, especially if your review makes it sound good!
But you can select your book and start reading as soon as the date task is announced. Books must completed and posted by the end of the date to count though - there is not carryover into the next date.
Q: Just wondering if it’s ok to participate in this challenge if I’m in Australia I.e. in a different time zone!
A: Absolutely! The times for announcing and ending the dates will be based on US EST, but you are more than welcome to play! And you wouldn't be the only international player - of the top of my head I know we have Australia, Italy and England represented already. 😊
Q: What do you mean by tagged?
A: Tagged = shelved. So if anyone has shelved a book as 'alpha' or any of the others listed, it can be used for that task.
Q: Would it be alright to read an anthology/ a short story collection up to 90+ pages, so to read all the stories up to 90 pages and then finish that short story?
A: If you are using the anthology to qualify for the page count you would need to finish the entire book. Not just 90 pages and the novella that works for the theme. You can check to see if the individual novella is be listed on GR (not in an anthology) and see if it qualifies on it's own for the page count.
Q: As long as book is tagged romance on first page it qualifies???? or does it have to be historical romance, paranormal romance etc
A: Just has to have romance - on its own or combined with contemporary, historical or whatever.
Q: Can we use books we're reading to fulfill other challenges for this one?
A: Absolutely! Multitasking is the best! But the book can not be started prior to the date beginning.
Q: Can a group of us sign up as a team?
A: No, teams will be randomly assigned. That way you get to meet and play with new people. 😊
Q: What do you mean by “in precís?”
A: The précis is the book blurb on GR or back cover, so the qualifying description would need to be included there.
Q: Does romance have to be an MPG or can it be on a list of shelves?
A: It has to be MPG romance, but it can be historical romance, contemporary romance, romantic suspense, paranormal romance, mm romance - it just has to have romance.
Q: For the tasks that require tagging can it be from any of the pages of shelves?
A: Yes.
Q: What does MPG mean?
A: Main Page Genre
On the main page of the book on the right hand side there is a section that says "Genres". Anything listed under that section is counted as an MPG.
Q: So...each letter has 4 choices.....does only one get picked per week? Or are we given a choice?
A: One of the four will be randomly selected each week.
Q: What are the rules if the book is so bad you can’t finish it?
A: That is hard for this challenge, since you can read multiple books. But I will accept DNFs if you read to the minimum page count of this challenge (90 p.) AND 70% of the book. You must also state that the book is a DNF and explain why in your completion, include the page number you finished on as well.
Q: Are combo tags acceptable?
A: Combo tags will be allowed IN CONTEXT. So if the task is to read a book with a firefighter and your book is tagged 'cops_firemen_military', but the precis indicates the hero is a sheriff for example (or even if all the other tags just indicate law enforcement), the book will be disqualified. I strongly suggest you find other qualification if possible - I will be SUPER PICKY with the combo tags.
Q: Are abridged audiobooks ok for this challenge?
A: No, abridged audiobooks are not allowed for this challenge! They are not complete books and will not be counted as such.
Q: Is there a way to use books that are available in audiobook format only? No paper or ebook options for page count.
A: It is difficult to even estimate a page count based on the length of an audiobook because they vary so widely. But rather than disallowing audio only books altogether, because a minimum page count is required for this challenge, I have come up with a compromise.
If an audio only book is 6 hours or longer, it will count as a book towards your and your team's books, but it will not have a page count associated with it. So audio only books will not add towards the Page Turner Rose or be in consideration for the Longest Date Rose. This applies to AUDIO ONLY books, if the book has a page count that must be used!
Q: Can any edition be used for the page count?
A: We are using the English language first edition Kindle page count ONLY for this challenge! Do not use the actual edition your read - I have no way of knowing that. This evens out the unfair advantage for those books that have large print editions or other extended formats and makes allowances for those that listen to audiobooks.
Q: What about manga, graphic novels, comics... if they are over 90 pages and romance?"
A: No, that would not be acceptable. Hardly fair in a team competition.
Q: When asked for a correction and repost, do I have to repost?
A: Yes, reposts are required for corrections unless specified otherwise. I do not go back through threads looking for corrections - it would take an incredible amount of time to do so! If you want your book to count, corrections MUST be reposted.

How to insert a link into a post:
To insert a simple link to a shelf there are a couple of options:
* Copy the https address in the address bar of the page where the book is found - highlight the web-address, copy the address, and paste into your post
or
* Find a link to the shelf that you want (eg on my lists of shelves to use for the themes), right click with your mouse, select 'Copy Link Location' and then paste into your post
If you want to make it pretty and have a specific name:
* Type <*a href="insert the link that you copied as per above">name the location<*/a> but without the asterisks.

🌹Theme - Second Chance Romance🌹
Here's how you find if a book you want to read fits a particular shelf:
1. Go to GR book page for the book you want to read.
2. Scroll down the page just a bit and click on "see top shelves..." (link under "Genres"). This will take you to the Top Shelves
3. With that (top shelves) page open in your browser, click: CTRL-F (Windows users) or Command-F (Mac users) to bring up your FIND option
4. Type the EXACT shelf name in the FIND search box.
5. With the shelf name in your FIND search box, on the book's 'top shelves' page, click NEXT as you scroll through each page. Sometimes you find it and sometimes you don't. You still have to scroll through the pages, but this way, the computer does the searching for you.
TIP: Try to look for shelves that you think could fit the book because although some books are not shelved properly, most of the shelves have some logic to it. For example, you will find Dark Lover in the Paranormal Romance, Vampires, Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Adult, Supernatural, Erotica, Contemporary and tons of others (there are 44 pages of shelves for this book) but don't try to look for Dark Lover in the inspirational romance shelf. It's doubtful that you find it. :)
An alternate method: (Thanks Aiswrya!)
Use the following link, changing the word 'dragon' to your keyword.
https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...

Yes, it will be over the holiday. So Date 2 - A will begin on June 27 and end on July 10.

This will be defined before the C task is called, I don't want to get too specific yet because I need to consider series of different lengths. It is safe to say that the first or last book in the series will not work and therefore duets won't either.

That is only for the page count, other editions' will be allowed to fit the tasks.

Did you read message #7 above? That is the best way I know how to do it. Using the 'find' feature, the computer does the searching for you. It is still some work going from page to page, but still pretty quick even on the longer lists.

https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...
Replace the word “dragon” with whatever tag you’re looking for :)

OMGoodness...Aiswrya. Thank you so much. This is awesome. It even tells you how many times it was shelved with that word.

https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...
Replac..."
Can I add this to the message above?

https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/sho..."
Of course :)

https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/sho..."
No problem! 😊

I had tried both those ways but was still have issues trying to find a specific shelf. I was trying to find books that would fit all four categories and would find one that fit three but I needed to know if it was shelved as "exciting." And that's when I started to slowly lose my mind 😊
I just wish you were able to search within the tags on a particular book. But GR doesn't seem to do that.
I will also note that the method Aiswrya mentions is very hepful but it won't show you every book with that tag. At least mine always stops on page 25 (or 1,250 books) even if there are more books. Not a huge deal since it will show you the most popular ones but still kinda weird.
Anyway, thanks for the help everyone! I really appreciate it!

Was thinking specifically of exciting/sweet/touching.......

Was thinking specifically of exciting..."
Yes as long as the book actually fits that tag you are giving it! It needs to be done before the date for that task begins - so now is a GREAT time to work on that! 😊

1. Does "Jase Hewitt never imagined he’d have a shot at bedding the larger than life rock star" work for bed? (Guarded)
2. Do either of these work for cartoon: a.

3. For Occiput does the person have to be completely turned around, or if they're sideways and you can see the back of their head is that enough? Example:

4. Is a boat considered a vehicle? Is a rocket?
5.

I think that's it. Thank you!

1. Does "Jase Hewitt never imagined he’d have a shot at bedding the larger than life rock star" work for bed? (Guarded)"
Before I get into any of these answers, I am going to warn you that they will be vague. I will be providing details of all the task requirements prior to each date starting. I don't want to get too precise right now, because I don't want to give an answer that I will want to change later. And honestly, I would likely be more flexible later than right now. 🤷🏻♀️
That said, I will say it is likely that that book will work.
Amanda wrote: "2. Do either of these work for cartoon: a. Fear of Frogs (Brimstone Book 3) by Angel Martinez ; b. Shax's War (Brimstone, #4 ) by Angel Martinez "
The first cover is too realistic, but the second would work.
Amanda wrote: "3. For Occiput does the person have to be completely turned around, or if they're sideways and you can see the back of their head is that enough? Example: Undone By You (Chicago Rebels, #3) by Kate Meader ; also does this book work for Ocher as well?"
You will need to be able to see the back of the head. Your example will probably not work, the character is still facing forward. I have not determined what the exact requirements will be yet, but books like

As for Ocher, TinEye says it is mostly shades of brown, so I would say yes. I only use TinEye if I can't tell just by looking at a cover for the colors.
Amanda wrote: "4. Is a boat considered a vehicle? Is a rocket?"
Probably and maybe.
Amanda wrote: "5. The Unexpected Heiress (A Nick Williams Mystery, # 1) by Frank W. Butterfield -is this enough for vehicle?"
Yes.
I hope that helped!

This one I can answer! It will be the initial publication date. If the book has a 'first published date' I will use that. If one isn't listed, I will be looking for the earliest listed publication date. (This is different from the last round where I used the earliest date listed whether or not there was a 'first published date'.)

1. Does "Jase Hewitt never imagined he’d have a shot at bedding the larger than life rock star" work for bed? (Guarded)..."
Thank you, it helped a lot!

I have two participants that still need teams, I will be placing them shortly. Just waiting to see if a team needs an extra member before I do so.

From the Q&A above - I know it is easy to miss things. 😉

Totally understand - there are lots of details!

Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.
Don't make more work for yourself than necessary - if the qualifier is in the title or on the cover, use it! You don't have to go searching for tags to make it work. 😊 If the link you use for the book is the same you are using for the page count and edition - say so (see above edition or something similar)! That saves us all some steps. But please double check your links!
You may use separate editions of your Scavenger Hunt books to qualify for the different tasks. Links MUST be provided.
B is for Band - Read a book featuring a musician or singer.
To qualify for this task, the title, series title, précis, list or tag would need to indicate that a MC is a musician or singer. It could be the generic musician or more specific to an individual instrument such as drummer, pianist, etc. This also applies to singer, it could be generic or more specific such as soprano or tenor.
B is for Beard - Read a book with facial hair (beard, mustache or scruff) on the cover.
To qualify, the book's cover needs to have a model with facial hair.
B is for Big - Read a book over 300 pages.
To qualify, your book needs to be over 300 pages in length. Remember we are using the first edition Kindle page count only!

Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.
