Just a note on my N book - it can count as the P selection if there's any problems for Victoria and someone else has an N book.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I finished Yiddish Police man’s union. Should I finish the book I started that works for u,g,q, b and I? Or save it for next round? Works for I, h, O,D for next round

message 603: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I haven’t added it to the spreadsheet yet in case it was saved for next round. Also I’ve only been on my phone today.

Rosina | 1800 comments Updated spreadsheet with finished book works for Letter N.

message 605: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments When a task says read a book "featuring" a certain event, for example honeymoon, does the whole book have to be about the honeymoon or does it just have to have a honeymoon in it somewhere?

message 606: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments Finished my B Book. Working on my Z book. I will have a task for my b book I just need an answer about the featuring before I select the task.

message 607: by Nicole (new)

Nicole P | 1834 comments @Sophie @Victoria I am up to date with all the books I've read so far. Just want to know what is the best option for tomorrow as it is weekend for me. Should I continue reading for the current word or hold off until we can start for the new word? I will be able to read about 3 books tomorrow before the cutoff.

If it says featuring, it just has to be in there somewhere, doesn't need to be the focus of the book.

If you can finish that would be great. We have a space for an I in our 9th (!) spell out

Spell out 8 needs a G - I'm not bothered by this as it's covered by the books in the next spell out if we need to shuffle.

Spell out 9:
P
U Nicole
I Mary C
N Tonya
G

There are 5 more books on the SS marked as currently being read, so I'm expecting we'll get started on spell out 10 by the end.

If you can finish books comfortably before the cut-off without getting stressed or feeling forced to read then go ahead! We'll find a place for them.

Thanks everyone for working so well to find books for the trickier letters!

message 611: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 1885 comments Question about the task 15 Read a book with a fish on the cover. Is a shark considered a fish in this challenge?

message 612: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5687 comments Mod
Yes I would count that

message 613: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 1885 comments Great, thank you Sophie! I immediately have another question about task 45 Read a book with vegetables on the cover. Does it have to be multiple vegetables or is one enough? I'm assuming a pumpkin is a vegetable, thinking about reading this one:
Nightmares & Echoes 3 2016 Gorillas With Scissors Press Charity Anthology by Josh Hilden

message 614: by Camilla (new)

Camilla | 1885 comments And a further question: are dinosaurs considered lizards?

message 615: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Okie dokie I will finish it

message 616: by Victoria (new)

Victoria | 1132 comments I'll check with Sophie, but think the pumpkin is fine but I'd say no to the dinosaurs.

message 617: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5687 comments Mod
Another no to dinosaurs as lizards. However a yes to the pumpkin cover - the tags are allowed to be singular or plural so I'd say the same for tasks.

message 618: by Mary X (last edited Jun 25, 2020 05:34AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I added that book to the spreadsheet. It'll probably be my last one for this round unless there's an urgent need for a replacement book. I should be able to finish it tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is my day alone at the office and I could easily knock out a short Kindle book if needed if I have something for the required letter.

message 619: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5687 comments Mod
I'll try to update early tomorrow morning so everyone can see where we've got to. Probably will get more points reading something longer for the next round if you get a chance.

message 620: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments So apparently I still have the U book I removed from the spreadsheet still checked out. I just hadn't added that branch of our library system to the Libby app yet. It expires in 2 days. It'll either be my first book for round 2 or I'll check it out another time

message 621: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments I updated Life of the Party with the task. Can you please update to make sure we get the points? Thank you :)

message 622: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments Also, it looks like what we need are G's so I'm shelving Zodiac until our next Z word unless we get enough letters to make another spelling before Friday and we need it.

message 623: by Tonya Marie (new)

Tonya Marie (tpinks315) | 221 comments Round 2 - I've added books for this round (thank you migraine not allowing me to read). I will have better information this weekend on what letters they qualify for, but I've already assigned tasks.

If anyone just has a "yen" for searching out tags and wants to look up my books to see if any of our tags apply, I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, if anyone wants to give me a dummy lesson on BOM participation, I'll take it! :)

HAPPY READING ALL!

message 624: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5687 comments Mod
Mary - If we get drive to uluru as one of our words we'll certainly need it then!

Jenn - will do. How difficult would it be to finish Zodiac? I'm expecting we'll get to our next spell out and another tricky letter done would be great.

Tonya - ouch! Hope the migraine clears quickly. Most things will work for at least one letter so don't worry about filling that in until you're ready.

Dummy lesson in BOM participation: find the thread. Get hold of the relevant book. The thread will have a breakdown of which chapters are being read on each day and who will be writing questions for those chapters. You can either follow this and answer the questions as you go, or read all in one go and answer the questions. If you have a look at page 2 onwards of the Five Feet Apart thread you should get the idea. Care is needed if you are behind and reading questions each day to avoid spoilers - spoiler tags aren't used if that section has had questions asked about already.

We'll certainly win the tricky words aspect if we do!

message 629: by Mary X (last edited Jun 25, 2020 01:37PM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I have like 6 digital library books all expiring between Sat & Sunday. I'll be binge listening/reading between now and then so I can start finishing them off tomorrow night. Hubby is working Sat and Sunday so that helps with my reading time.

If I read the time conversion chart right, round 2 starts 5pm my time tomorrow. I think. I'm EST.

message 630: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5687 comments Mod
It'll be the same time as the challenge started for you last week. 5pm EST sounds about right.

I can finish Zodiac. I'll work on it. Do you still need the G or do you want me to just focus on the Z?

message 632: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments Also don't forget to add my task points to Life of the Party. It's not in the spreadsheet yet. I updated it in the planning sheet

message 635: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I finished Under the Volcano.

I'll have time in the morning to hunt for tasks if there any books that haven't been assigned ones yet. Just let me know if there's a need.

Tonya Marie (tpinks315) | 221 comments Sophie/Victoria - I am going to have to bow out (gracelessly) from A Good Neighborhood... I'm having trouble staying engaged. I will finish Nash though! I don't know how you'd like me to mark AGN on the spreadsheet for now - I'll finish but not until the next round.

was asking because once it was that you had to finish it with a 4 week period.

Well done for finding that. I had to go double check because I'm used to it being within a month of the start date.

Spell out 9 is complete.

So far there is nothing in spell out 10 so read whatever takes your fancy! Most books can fit in more than one place so we can juggle things around to fit everything that is finished later. If you'd rather get started on something for next round, that's fine too!

message 642: by maria helena (new)

maria helena (mariahel) | 1924 comments I've finished Våroffer for letter B. There is no print edition published yet, but the audio is a little over 8 hours long.

message 643: by Victoria (new)

Victoria | 1132 comments Cassie - could you add read dates to the books on your shelf?

Mary - could you add a date read to No Gun Intended and add Yiddish Policeman's Union to your shelf

Thank you both!

message 644: by Vikki (new)

Vikki (silverstarz) | 1278 comments I finished a book last night but I don't think it will count for the challenge as a kids book and I couldn't find anything on the AR Bookfinder website. But if you want to check it out, it was:
Rivals of the Chalet School

Tonya Marie (tpinks315) | 221 comments Thanks all! Round 1 is over for me since I have to work until round 2 starts. I'll be finishing A Good Neighborhood and then I've had my eye on One to Watch - G and O!
