Two issues:
1) Either the first quote mark should be removed (and thus match the text) or it should be matched at the end and the quotes around Psst! made single ticks. (It's single ticks in the original.)
2) There's a word missing. It should be 'that in that time' (p. 8 in US Book Club edition of Small Gods).

This is my first post--let me know if I'm doing anything outrageously incorrect or offensive.

The “ ” are added by the system around each quote. It probably thinks that is more than enough and any " or ' at the beginning or end of a quote should not be there. Single or double ticks, I could not get them to save, even with an extra space after them.

I did add 'that', though.

Huh. Is that because you used ‛ ’ instead of ' ' ?
