I haven't read the book so I can't vouch for it as an adaptation, but I thought the movie was charming:)

What did you think?"
Parts of it were pretty technical...but it was a good story...I heard someone describe it as Robinson Crusoe in space....I enjoyed it!

I'm glad you liked it! It was one of my favorite and most surprising reads from last year! Cannot wait to see the movie!

I added this, looks fascinating. If you're interested in earthqake studies, I recommend Full-Rip 9.0: The Next Big Earthquake in the Pacific Northwest by Sandi Doughton. Not only for the science, but they also studied the oral history and mythology of the Native Americans and found that the histories contained accurate accounts of historic earthquakes. I believe it even allowed them to date the earthquake to the exact day it happened. And that some of the mythology- like the places of evil spirits- matched up to fault lines.
