Tania | 644 comments Okay so here's the deal - I basically took a break from reading for a couple of years (2 jobs + study = no life) so I'm doing a lot of re-reading to catch up on series I enjoyed. I'm putting together my shelf for Meet and Greet and I've realised I'm DROWNING in series. Does anyone have any good standalone recs?

I'll read anything except YA and I have yet to reach an explicit level I couldn't handle.

(doesn't matter if you think I've probably read it before - re-reads are ok)

~KarenH~ | 11348 comments Hi Tania - nice to see you back!

Wow, this was hard...I'm in pretty much the same boat you are, and almost all of my reading is series these days! I did find several that I loved and often recommend in the PIFM. Most are on the short side, probably only the Julie James titles would be considered full length novels, the others are more like novellas:

Hearts in Darkness
Do Over
Shaken
Misunderstanding Mason
Practice Makes Perfect
Just the Sexiest Man Alive

I don't know if you read any m/m or not, but if you do a few that stuck in my mind as being exceptionally good are

A Reason To Believe
Out in the Field
Sidecar

Hope you find something here that works for you!

I loveCharlotte Stein and most of hers are stand-alones. A few I really like are-
Sheltered
Deep Desires
Curve Ball

MountainKat | 31601 comments Surprise! Karen cam up with much the same list I would have if she hadn't done it first! (Or if I could think, but I'm just going to stick with she came up with it first!)

A few more maybe, several Susan Elizabeth Phillips books are stand alines - a couple of favorites would be Breathing Room and Ain't She Sweet. Also, lots of historicals are too - I'm thinking of Amanda Quick and Laura Kinsale off the top of my head. Some of the older Jayne Ann Krentz books are stand alone too. Most of those aren't overly spicy, but I've enjoyed them when I've read them.
