Welcome to Six of Crows Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on June 15th and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

@Emily I'm still where I was when I spoke to you this afternoon lmao! But like you, I think I might catch up this weekend! :D

Honestly, I'm happy that I'm into it. The hype hasn't destroyed it (yet).

Ahh! I'm finally into this! Sunday was SoC day lol and I'm glad to say that I'm about 80% in and I'm about to start with Chapter 33. I could have finished this last night but I didn't feel like parting from the characters lol

SO. I'm not really interested in the plot... Just like in the grisha trilogy (I'm only on the second book with that series and I ended up dnf-ing book 2 with the intention of revisiting later when I'm in the mood to deal with Alina and Mal blegh), it just didn't appeal to me. Not even the magic system or the world. So the only thing that's keeping me tuned into this book is the characters and the dynamics between them and that's probably why I found it so hard to get past the first chapter and preferred to just put this off for a bit lol.

Nina and Matthias <3 I'm actually so trash for that. I loved seeing flashbacks of how they met and the circumstances that brought them to the present. I'M SO TRASH.

And Jesper and Wylan are definitely into each other and I'm so trash for that. Wylan is a little baby, I want to cuddle him 5ever.

As for Kaz and Inej? It's so weird bc I don't know yet and I'm already this far into the book lol. Like I see it, but I'm still waiting for something that's worth all the hype.

As you can see, my general attitude towards these people is that if I were going to tell them all to go to sleep, I'd probably tell everyone to STFU AND SLEEP, meanwhile I'm tucking Wylan in with a teddy bear and kissing his forehead

(view spoiler)[ I Definitely agree with you that the characters make this book so good and Nina and Matthias are definitely my fave couple, I did however really enjoy the thing that’s going on between kaz and Inej because you can just feel the attraction between them. I get the feeling that you’re not going to pick up the second book but you have to!!!!!!! I’m curious to see what you will rate this book. (hide spoiler)]

As I'm not into heist stories, the characters were the driving factor as to why I enjoyed it as much as I did. And I mean who wouldn't be trash for Nina and Matthias and speaking of which I'm sad with what happened with Nina as the end (sad and amazed by her). These 2 honestly need a prequel novella so I can live in their backstory and be immersed in their romance from the beginning.

Also agree that Wylan is a cinnamon roll and I could see the Jesper and Wylan romance blossoming.

As for Kaz and Inej, I'm like how did they end up liking each other again. Like the scrape is there but I want more build-up. There's minimal tension and I'm disappointed though I think it should be present in the sequel but idk I need to read Crooked Kingdom to find out if I ship it or not.

I can def feel the attraction between Kaz and Inej too, but I'm still hoping for more in the second book which I AM gonna read :D I told my best friend I was reading the first book after years of her urging me to do it and she was so damn happy, I don't think I could pass up on book 2 even if I didn't end up liking anything about this book 😅

I'm a little too busy right now to review any books but this is sitting at 4 stars for me! :D I'm hoping the 2nd book will be 1mil times better on all fronts. Nina is honestly my fave out of everyone. SHE WAS JUST SO AWESOME 😭

We have the same thoughts. Nina is also my favourite that's what made the ending sad with Nina being drained by the drug. But she was so badass with it so I'm definitely conflicted on my feelings with Nina and the drug (which sounds so weird typing it out).

Just so you all know, there is a buddy read planned for July and I can add all of you to it if you want! Also, yes, Nina is a badass and the second book is a wild ride!

I need to read that second book soon so I'm down. Like I need to make progress on my series completion this year and I need Kaz to rescue Inej.
