Mayra (kaligurl_7) | 371 comments Hey guys so I came across this book challege and im doing it with a couple of friends. So I thought I'd share with you guys. This gives us a chance to talk about other books that might not be on our list as well as share the books we use to cross off each category.
You can see the challenge here http://www.popsugar.com/love/reading-...
I will try and figure out if i can upload an image. I look forward to seeing your picks for the different categories.

Happy Reading
Mayra

Mayra (kaligurl_7) | 371 comments I will start by sharing that I am reading Wild by Cheryl Strayed as my Book with a One word title.

message 3: by Shermaya (new)

Shermaya Cavanagh | 28 comments I saw this challenge and decided to put all the challenges into a jar to pull out one when I don't know what to read next or I feel like a challenge etc

message 4: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthas48) I like this challenge, but I'm admittedly addicted to challenges. I'm doing this one, but will probably not finish in a year. :-)

message 5: by Mayra (new)

Mayra (kaligurl_7) | 371 comments Shermaya thats a cool way to go about it. I wrote out the list so that i could look at bks i have but havent read and where they fit. If i did the jar thing i might just end up buying more books.

message 6: by Mayra (new)

Mayra (kaligurl_7) | 371 comments Martha i dont know if i can finish in a yr either but i am gonna try. My record bks in one yr is 60, but in the past to yrs i havent bn able to read my goal so we'll see. I figured sharing with the group would also help us motivate each other. :)

R either of you reading something for the challenge now?

message 7: by Shermaya (new)

Shermaya Cavanagh | 28 comments Not at the minute but I plan to start Red Rising (Red Rising Trilogy, #1) by Pierce Brown tomorrow and that will be for the challenge. Are you reading one for the challenge at the minute Mayra?

message 8: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthas48) I just finished a mystery that I'm counting for that task. Not sure about the next one up. Will see if it fits anywhere.

message 9: by Mayra (new)

Mayra (kaligurl_7) | 371 comments I am reading Wild by cheryl strayed for a one word tittle and also the complete fairy tails by hans christian anderson for the book of short stories

message 10: by Buck (last edited Jan 11, 2015 03:20PM) (new)

Buck (spectru) I just now looked at this challenge. Of the six books I have read or am reading, I can check off ten of the categories, and the books I have on my reading table that I will read next will satisfy a few more.

For example: I'm reading Red Mars: It has a color in the title, has more than 500 pages, is set in the future, it has a love triangle, and I've never read its author before.

I have a feeling that squeezing out those last few is where the challenge really comes in.

message 11: by Mayra (new)

Mayra (kaligurl_7) | 371 comments Buck i think the challenge is that u can only check one item off per book, so all the ones you have listed you would need to pick which one to use it for.
For example the book to movie one, i hav

Shermaya Cavanagh | 28 comments That's what I thought as well, the books Ive read upto now could all count as more than one category but I thought the aim was to read 52 books (as one challenge is a trilogy)

message 15: by Carina (new)

Carina | 10 comments This is a very unique challenge. Love it. I just wish I had more time to read!!!

Linda | 85 comments Carina wrote: "This is a very unique challenge. Love it. I just wish I had more time to read!!!"

I know! 52 books?? I set my 2015 Reading Challenge to 30 books and it's going to be a struggle to meet that goal. I think I'll be scrambling for short books by the time October rolls around. I'm always impressed by the readers who set their challenges anywhere above the 75 mark.

message 17: by Mayra (new)

Mayra (kaligurl_7) | 371 comments Carina and Linda.... I am right there with you. I just made it to 32 bks this past yr so well see. Plus this makes adds a twist to just reading any book. Right now we have options but once u are left with only a few categories it gets harder.

I think this is the kind of challenge that I would take on over a couple of years. I usually set myself up to read 50 books a year. This includes books for fun and books I read for research (background for books I am teaching). I'll have to keep a copy of this list handy and check some off as I go along...

message 21: by Mayra (new)

Mayra (kaligurl_7) | 371 comments Lisa we could just post our list here, or do you think we should all track them on a seprate thread?

Carina and Lisa, I am aming for a year but we will see, since i am hoping to start my student teaching in Sept. it might get harder to find free time to read, but i will take advantage of the time I have now.

One down 49 or i guess 51 to go(bc of the trilogy) :D

I am now starting I Am Malala The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai

Enjoy the reading time while it lasts! Student teaching will take up a lot of your time... probably more than you expect. Good luck! :)

message 42: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Payne | 2 comments Hello everyone, I've started this years pop sugar challenge too, after doing it last year also.
I feel that this years doesn't feel so widely challenging though? If that makes sense. A lot of the categories could be the same book, the ones such as Written by a celebrity, political memoir, autobiography.
Still looking forward to having a go at it though! I think I have ticked off about ten so far!
