Nikki | 663 comments Hi everyone - I haven't been very sociable on here recently because I tend to deal with stress by shutting down, and like everyone else, I've had a crazy few months! It's been an uncertain time for us because we had a move planned this summer, from our current location of Seattle, USA back to our 'real' home town of Reading, UK. When the coronavirus shutdown started we realised that getting back to a place that feels like home & is where our families are was even more important to us, but it wasn't clear whether it would still be possible. After a couple of very uncertain months, we now have bookings made and are keeping everything crossed that it will all go ahead roughly as originally planned (although exchanging the hoped-for final US sightseeing trip for a 14-day quarantine in the UK on arrival!) Anyway, long story short, I'm going to be crazy busy for the next few weeks, so although I won't have the willpower to stay away from books altogether, I may also not have the brainpower to put together any coherent thoughts about them...

One admin question in case I do get time for any catch-up sessions: I have a poll ballot backlog as when the initial covid-19 stress started, I carried on posting reviews to PBT but didn't report them for poll ballot. I think I've read somewhere that there's no requirement to report these in a timely way - would it still be ok to cross-post books reviewed here in previous months to the poll ballot thread when/if I get chance?

LibraryCin | 11697 comments I'm happy for you that you get to head home, Nikki! Enjoy the time with your family!

I will let Nicole answer your Poll Ballot question, though I'm pretty sure it is ok to report later on, but she'll have the "official" answer for you.

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments Good luck with the move Nikki! It sounds like an extremely stressful process under normal conditions let alone during a pandemic! But, the end will see you settled back in the UK where you feel at home, so that definitely is a great final outcome after all the work.

Yes, you can post your Poll Ballot Tally reviews whenever you have time. The game runs through November 3, so just be sure to post before then.

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12589 comments So glad you are on your way to getting home Nikki! I did find that book I promised you buried in a pile in my daughters room. She is still reading it-I will send it to the UK, this I promise!

Nikki | 663 comments Thank you all for your kind comments & to Nicole for the poll ballot clarification.

@Joanne - that's very kind but I wouldn't expect you to pay international postage! The fact that you thought to offer in the first place put a big smile on my face, and that's enough.

Nikki | 663 comments A quick update to pop back & laugh at myself: I've posted more on here since declaring myself 'taking a break' than I had for about a month before that - deciding to stop took all the pressure off and changed my review backlog from a task I felt bad for not doing to a relaxing indulgence... Now I just need to find a similar psychological trick to use on the packing and admin I'm actually supposed to be doing!!!

Be sure to say goodbye when you do leave, and come back once you are settled in at home! Safe travels!

Funny also how the pressure to do otger tnings makes some long ignored task just what you want to do!

I have had various backups too from work combined with Proust. Including a very few reviews!

That is funny, but it does give me the opportunity to say, have a good trip and enjoy your move back home.

Karin | 9232 comments All the best with your move back to the UK and home! While I have never moved overseas as an adult, I have done plenty of moving and it's very easy to put off packing which is always a big job, particularly if you are moving far away and aren't going to take furniture and many other things with you (I am guessing you aren't taking it since shipping is so expensive!)
