This thread is to discuss Lock Every Door by Riley Sager.

I have a theory that the young doctor is a serial killer because he's lived there his whole life. Then he mentions Greta and his family knew each other and He's wondering how she knows Ingrid and made her promise to talk to him before she leaves if she decides to leave (hide spoiler)]

I'm a sucker for the whole "pretend you're my boyfriend in front of my ex trope" But it's also scaring me that I'm right and that it's even more evidence that Nick might be a bad guy (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 27

And now Nick is in the circle of trust which is also nerve wracking because if the author wants a twist then setting him as a good guy is a trick they might use.

Greta knew Ingrid better than we thought because of the inscription in the book (hide spoiler)]

Dylan being the number on Erica's missing person poster was unexpected and thought it was a cool twist (hide spoiler)]

I will start reading this book tomorrow.

I finished it and gave it 4 stars! I was listening to the audiobook and it was unpausable!

I thought it was a good twist that it wasn't just one "killer" and that everyone in the building was involved because of the "secret society" I also thought it was a good twist about the organ transplants because when she is reading the book in the library I thought it would have to do with blood like she was reading. It was also a good twist that Greta's grandma was the witch lady from the past. I also liked the twist that she wasn't actually in a hospital but in a different part of the building that looked like a hospital. I was glad that she took the whole thing down at the end. I was surprised that it ended this way though! (hide spoiler)]

Still waiting for it from my library. :(

Just started. I am into 31 pages and it’s got me hooked. I love it if a book does that to me.

(view spoiler)[ How can Ingrid just disappear like that. When we were introduced to Ingrid, I thought since she is so jovial, the problem will lie only in 12A.
But her disappearance raise so many questions. I am just not able to figure out anything now.
Certain portions in the book like the high tech apartment, the sounds of movement reminded me of Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware. Did anyone else feel that too? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I have no clue what’s going on here. Dylan’s part of the story was a great reveal. It is almost certain that Leslie is aware of all the shady incidents happening in the apartment. But why lure a person who is an orphan the money just to kill? What could be the possible motive and idea behind such a strange idea. Who is this person. This is moving towards a nail biting finale. Chapter 32

Finished the book. My rating 4/5.

(view spoiler)[ Loved the twists at the end. The way in which Jules took the building down was so badass. Nick jumping from the building was highly unexpected. But it was symbolic of the theory he believed in that Life goes for full circle. The idea that he had the same fate as his great grandfather was a great closure for his character.
I really liked the part that Greta eventually helped Jules to escape. That spoke so much. And moreover the fact that Rufus went with Jules was also something I loved.
Overall, apart from the things pointed out by Ruthie these are things that I really enjoyed. (hide spoiler)]

It was my first Riley Sager read and I am really looking forward to reading more of his books.
I enjoyed this book a lot. And I am glad I read it as a part of this buddy read. Loved all the discussions till now and looking forward for more.

Ruthie I was mistaken Turn of the Key and Lock every door are very different. There is nothing comparable in the plots. And I would highly recommend Turn of the Key to you. I gave it 5 stars.

Ok good to know! I've heard Turn of the Key is really good so I'll have to check it out.

You are so right it was really badass and I'm glad she took it all down because it was seeming like it was impossible when we found out she was still in the building but not in a real hospital.

Wow I didn't even think of that about Nick jumping off the building but you're so right!

Yes I'm glad too about Greta helping Jules. Did she help her only because she already had her kidney do you think? Would she have still helped?

And yes Rufus with Jules was great!

I wasn't expecting the organ twist-it was good! When she was looking at books in the library I thought it would literally be like what she was reading, a crazy satanic serial killer who liked to fill cups with blood lol lol so I'm glad it was a bit more intricate than that! (hide spoiler)]

I have 4 hours of it left. I’ll look at the spoilers once I’m done. Haha

(view spoiler)[ I think Greta helped her because Jules saved her from the fire initially and also because she had her kidney. These two reasons combined made her indebted to Jules. And somehow I think towards the end, she also understood the pain that Jules went through and because of that developed a soft corner in heart.

You know one more thing, when I got to know Charlie the building guard was involved in the whole thing, it really broke my heart.

And I was really surprised with the part that Jules was still in the building after being hit by the car. That angle was super cool.

And I was wondering something and I don’t have an answer to that yet., so maybe you guys could help me out. Why do you think Leslie asked Ingrid to get Jules’s blood initially? (When Ingrid purposely crashed with Jules in the lobby on Leslie’s instructions.) I didn’t understand that part.

I just finished!! Wow, I didn't expect the ginormous twist of events! This book was so interesting to listen to while doing things. A good thriller.
(view spoiler)[ I agree that Jules was so brave! I'm so glad that she cared and kept digging and fighting! What a bummer that the rich people think they're so much better and entitled but when an idea to get what they want! So Ingrid got lucky?! Woah, what a dramatic end to Nick! I would be devastated if I woke up with something was missing from my body without my permission! She should get her organ back; I don't care if Greta helped her; she should have asked first. YES JUSTICE. Good thing Charlie shared the information. I like that people were there after everything she had been through. That was nice. Good thing they decided to demolish that place! Moral of this story: Don't believe every too good to be true add? Haha (hide spoiler)]

Finally finished it, read it in two days. It’s my second favorite Riley Sager book. Four stars from me. Looking forward to reading his newest one, think it came out last month.

I agree about Charlie that was so sad. Just the author trying to prove anyone can do bad things if they are for their kids or someone close to them. still though...he should imagine his daughter in these people's shoes, he wouldn't want anyone taking her organs by force.


So I think Jules blood is how they knew she was a match for Gretchen. I think that's how they test if you can be a donor for someone (hide spoiler)]

I am planning to get my copy of Home before dark in a few days. I liked Riley Sager.

Yeah of course! They asked the blood for that. Initially I thought it is for some cult related activity. I just kept linking it to that.

Of course they needed to have a blood test to match if she could be a potential donor. 🙈So silly that I didn’t go beyond the cult thing.🤪 (hide spoiler)]

Why not read Home before Dark together or even some other Riley Sager books? If any of you guys plan to suggest it, count me in.

I do want to! The next few months still look pretty full for me because I’m signed up for a few different series that keep continuing lol but next time I have an opening I’ll pm you about doing a Riley Sager!
