Joyce (raventressreads) Horror isn't really my genre so I have never read Stephen King. Nevertheless, was curious due to the high reviews for his books and started the year with 'The Shining' and 'Doctor Sleep'. Have to say that the rave reviews are well deserved. The characters were well developed with great writing which kept me intrigued the whole time.

#1 The Shining (The Shining #1) by Stephen King Rating 5/5
#2 Doctor Sleep (The Shining #2) by Stephen King Rating 5/5

Joyce (raventressreads) Historical fiction has always been one of my favorite genre and "The Shoemaker's Wife" scores high in review for that. Initially wasn't too impressed with the book cover and name but it turned out to be an interesting read depicting the hardship of immigrants from Italy to America during early 20th century.

#3 The Shoemaker's Wife by Adriana Trigiani Rating 4/5

Joyce (raventressreads) Big Little Lies reminds me of Desperate Housewives but the content is less trashy with more believable stories of the three main characters. Heard it's going to be adapted into a mini-series starring Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. Can't wait! :)

#4 Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty Rating 4/5

Joyce (raventressreads) Can't help feeling that the theme of jealousy is stronger than love. Seems like only Finn and Toby were the only ones capable of true love. Nevertheless, the writing kept the story captivating.

#5 Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt Rating 4/5
