Roger Kean | 17278 comments Hahaha… I know cats :)

1) There have been three dogs in my life (excluding Zeke :-)

2) I named my pet gerbil Harold (after the third line in the Lord's prayer)

3) There have been five cats in my life (though I am allergic to cat fur)

1. Jess being the most interesting to me but underappreciated by some at the time.

2. Harold be thy name. What must have Uncle Harold though of that.

3 is a lie.

Eros (spiritually_evolving_always) | 566 comments I think 2 is the lie.

I don't feel it is three because I'm highly allergic to cats and I have owned 18 in my life.

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Sorry for the delay… I kind of lost Sunday :)

Jacob got it! I never have owned a gerbil, named Harold or otherwise, but the cats, working in revers: Buster, Blackie, Tigs, Smidgen Pigeon, Smoky; the dogs: Oli and I had a white lab called Spiky, my legal guardians in Britain had a Jack Russell called Victor, and my parents had a Nigerian bush dog called – Preston is right – Jess.

Go for it Jacob!

Eros (spiritually_evolving_always) | 566 comments 1) I have owned 24 dogs, 3 birds, 18 cats, two cows, one donkey, 20 chickens, five rabbits, two guinea pigs, 13 pigs and 2 snakes throughout my life.
(view spoiler)

2) My specialty, when cooking, is Chicken Fajita's & Steaks

3) I suffer from depression, anxiety & bipolar disorder and am unable to be medicated due to lack of insurance.

Preston | 20148 comments Roger wrote: "I agree, 1 is so totally a lie :)"

I hope that you are right that 3 is the lie not only for Jacob's sake but because he'd have to be going to a quack to get a diagnosis of "depression, anxiety & bipolar disorder" when depression is included in bipolar disorder. If one doctor gave that diagnosis it's time to get another doctor.

message 713: by Eros (last edited Jun 03, 2015 07:50AM) (new)

Eros (spiritually_evolving_always) | 566 comments 3 ) Is not the lie. Sorry Preston, but I'm was seeing a quack. He did medicate me when I had insurance for bipolar disorder as well as depression and anxiety. I actually said the same thing and he told me that the many antipsychotics and antidepressants I was being given is to help each issue directly. I took risperdal, prozac, zoloft, & Quetiapine which was sued for all three problems. I was not diagnosed with bipolar depression given he diagnosed me at separate times in my life. He advised me to continue my medications with a few changes and wanted to know of any ill effects that may have occurred.

2) Is not the lie, I cooked fajitas last night I only had complaints from the guy who doesn't like peppers and onions and mushrooms..I told him to hit the road and pick up something from mcdonalds because nothing else is being fixed.

1) Is a part lie haha, I owned no snakes they were my aunts, Roxy (Miniature Schnauzer) is another aunts, my neighbors dogs Hazel (Weimaraner) & Max (Weimaraner), and Clifford (Vizsla Yellow Lab mix) was my uncles. The rest were all mine.

You win Preston....and by what I stated above...apart from insurance problems...Another reason why I no longer see that doctor is due to he constantly had me drugged up and I felt like I was losing my mind on those drugs. I nearly committed suicide over the whole situation.

message 714: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Wow! What a good thing you're way saner than your ex-doctor :)

message 715: by Eros (new)

Eros (spiritually_evolving_always) | 566 comments ikr!!! I honestly think he was getting paid more for prescribing mental health medications because everyone in my family who has had him has seemed to have some mental problem...but maybe it is all hereditary hahaha

message 716: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Doctors over-prescribing… now that's hereditary! My first doctor in rural Ludlow only prescribed horse pills for everything, and he never had any ailing patients!!

message 717: by Eros (new)

Eros (spiritually_evolving_always) | 566 comments wow!!!

message 718: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments Well Jacob I'm glad the quack is gone but there some psychiatrists who are very good at using the correct meds and there are some psychologists who are very good at talk therapy so not all are quacks you just have to avoid picking your doctor from the duck pond—quack.

I choose the animals as the lie because although it was possible to have a donkey, it seemed highly unlikely that anyone but a dog breeder/trainer could own 24 dogs. I have just one and he's quite enough to take care of properly.

I turn my turn over to Kit

message 721: by Eros (new)

Eros (spiritually_evolving_always) | 566 comments @ Preston, I came pretty close to owning 24 dogs, but I haven't owned them all at one time. Each of my dogs or most of them have lived into old age and passed on. No way could I handle that many at one time the most I have had at one time was ten of those listed. I grew up on a farm and raising multiple animals was my hobby. Not to mention I excluded the goats I owned from that list as well. We have had a lot of land and therefore plenty of room for all of those animals. Taking care of animals was like a past time. I would raise them from babies bottle feeding each and everyone of them. I would only let my parents take in the outcast who were abandoned. Those that we found on the streets or happened to wonder to our home of their own accord were given a month to be claimed with many flyers posted. No one ever claimed any of our dogs when we rescued them and I was not abotu to let them be sent to a pound to await death. A number of them were pups whose mothers died during birth or kittens. I played surrogate to them and I'm happy to say now I have moved out from my parents that my little sister has also taken up the desire to be a surrogate mother. Her first was recently. I gave her Ringo Starr to mother and she is doing pretty well he is on a schedule and everything. Three of my dogs had another who died and the owner was going to kill the pups. We only wanted one originally, but I guilted my mom into getting all three because no one should die just because they don't have another to care for them. I have had one dog die of rabies, but the odd thing was even in it's rabies I was the only person who was able to care for it. He would foam at the mouth and growl and attempt to attack anyone else, but me. He would whine as if letting me know he was suffering and I knew he had to be put down. It was like an old yellar remake for me. Heart wrenching.

1) my hairy son (aka my dog) runs ahead of me to open the door.
2) 98% of the time I do laundry I end up chasing my hairy son all over the back yard trying to get back a piece of clothing.
3) my hairy son likes to play tag (with his teeth) with the gophers.

Marcie | 7096 comments 1) true. not because he's being gentlemanlydogish. but because he wants in first.

2) true. i have an outdoor washroom. so just about every time i carry a load out there he starts jumping to see what he can get. and it always ends up being a sock or underwear he gets a hold of.

3) lie. i wish he would get the gophers. but he likes playing tag with the birdies :( i don't know how he does it, but by the amount i have to pick up...he's pretty good at it. now, if i can only have him direct that skill towards the damn gophers.

roger you win!

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I wrote a book about a gofer called Gil Graham :-)
Oliver has nominated me as Author of the Month in the M/M Romance Group for July …

1) I like avocados

2) I like aubergines (egg plants)

3) I like courgettes (zucchini)

Preston | 20148 comments "I wrote a book about a gofer called Gil Graham :-)"
[FYI Gil Graham + Mike Smith = the boys in Roger's "The Boys of…" series]

@Roger FYI eggplants is one word in case Mike and Gil are in the US and the order eggplant parmesan
<-grin->

Rather than post this complaint in the main section I'd like to say right here that Roger is evil because he cruelly sends me menus of his outstanding preparations which makes me so sad I'm eating instant mac and cheese while he is preparing Beef Wellington followed by Baked Alaska for dessert.

Well, I have to say that Jacob is right. I do not like eggplants (all one word :-)) or aubergines either, whereas I adore avocados and I like courgette/zucchini(s)

P.S. I make one eggplant exception if there isn't too much of it in traditional Greek moussaka.

Take it away Jacob!

message 740: by Eros (new)

Eros (spiritually_evolving_always) | 566 comments 3) My middle name is Mitchell so now you know what it means when I write Jacob M. Hott

2) My first name is really Jacobi, I hate that name and only go by Jacob.

1) I caught a ringneck snake the other day, but the poor fellow, who I had named Caesar, died in the cold rain before I could bring a cage with warm soil and fresh worms to him.

message 741: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments 2. is the lie because I doubt that your parents would give you a non-Christian name and Jacobi isn't in the Bible.

Of course it's possible you named the ring necked snake Mitchell. <-grin->

Eros (spiritually_evolving_always) | 566 comments Why I gotta have christian names lol

message 743: by Preston, Moderator (last edited Jun 07, 2015 04:23PM) (new)

Preston | 20148 comments Because Christian names (which also cover Hebrew names except Hebrew names are Old Testament only) were at one time in this country not that long ago synonymous with first names since everyone was considered (by some close-minded people) to be Christian, Hebrew or ungodly heathen who were going to hell.

The close minded people predominated and in all too many places still do. Which is why we don't have gay names like Sequinedcrotch Preston Hunter and Roger Glitterbuns Kean. Or digital names like 01001010001 or RPG names like Lord Scorpion or Ring-necked Snake names like Hisss. Well nowadays in some big cities like Gopher Pot Corners and really big cities like Pajama Party Gulch they do allow gay names but mostly so the bullies know who beat up.

Eros (spiritually_evolving_always) | 566 comments Oh lol, then what about the name Dean is it a christian name? I have a friend named Dean is why I ask so if the answer is no I want to throw it in his face. Because it sounds a bit confusing to me lol...I thought all names had different origins...I've never labelled aname a christian name or anything like that. My mother is Melissa and my father is Jerry...are those their christian names?

message 745: by Preston, Moderator (new)

Preston | 20148 comments Jacob wrote: "Oh lol, then what about the name Dean is it a christian name?..."

Dean is a Christian name because the actor James Dean was considered to look like a angel.

Born: February 8, 1931, Marion, IN Died: September 30, 1955, Cholame, CA

message 747: by Roger (last edited Jun 08, 2015 12:13AM) (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Okay then… 1)

I always though you had a Christian name because it was the one given at your baptism, and since at any time before the 21st century everyone was baptized a Christian (anyone else was a heathen and didn't count, you see) they all had Christian names as distinct from their Surnames, which are the family name, or in Latin the genius. That meant that a Christian name had to be an approved one, so the son of Davide Bowie would never have been allowed to call himself by the name of Zowie that his daddy David gave him.

Indeed, until very recently, in Switzerland it was unlawful to give a child a non-approved Christian name. They relaxed a bit now, those Swissli.
