Rick | 15794 comments I think I recall you mentioning something about the Stratocruiser once, so I'm going to say #2 is the lie. Talk about your flying deathtraps! Scary! And all the more so because you wouldn't know the clock was ticking the whole time.

Hey roger you got post #1000! :)

message 1002: by Roger (last edited Jul 11, 2015 08:12AM) (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments That extraordinary fact evidently screwed with my brain, because I suddenly realised I posed the three questions as Find The Truth rather than Find The Lie :(

Perhaps we should play it as Find the Truth this once and you can recast your vote, Rick, if you want to… :-))

message 1003: by Rick (last edited Jul 11, 2015 08:45AM) (new)

Rick | 15794 comments Well, then, that having been said.

I'll pick #3 as the truth masquerading as a lie(?), I'm so confused now. I'm going with the Stratocruiser. I think that was #3. I have un-turn the page to check. Who ever heard of posting a question as post #1000 anyway. Sheesh!

Yes, I just checked. I'll take #3 for the gold please. ;)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments No one got it right!

1) was my first flight, B.O.A.C. Argonaut, July 1956: London-Heathrow to Rome to Tripoli (Libya) to Kano (northern Nigeria) to Lagos. Left London at midday, arrived Lagos the following day at 10:30 am.

2) I made two flights in a B.O.A.C. Comet in 1964, non-stop London-Lagos in 6.5 hours, and then back to London at the end of the school vacation.

3) B.O.A.C. introduced the Boeing Stratocruiser (great airplane) in time for my families' first leave in the UK before Christmas 1958 after 21 months in Lagos. Left in the afternoon with a temperature riding at about 100ºF to arrive next day at Heathrow to December snow and a temperature of -3ºF still dressed in shorts and t-shirts.

So Rick got closest! Take it away Rick

Rick | 15794 comments My first actual paid position was as a:

1) Video Rental Store Clerk

2) Moving Man

3) Night Lock-man for a Church

message 1007: by Eros (new)

Eros (spiritually_evolving_always) | 566 comments This is find the lie so more than one cannot be your first paid position...even in find the truth the same can be said. Unless it is perhaps you held two positions at one time for your first actual paid occupation.

If that is correct then I will say that 3 is the lie. It would seem to me to be easier to hold up a part-time job as a video rental clerk and moving man than nightlock-man for a church as most movies are rented at night and most moving companies worked during daylight hours.

Rick | 15794 comments You win Jacob. Not because you're right but because I messed up.

(Roger, it must be contagious!)

Take away Jacob!

Eros (spiritually_evolving_always) | 566 comments ((haha lol sorry It jsut confused me I had to elaborate aloud.))

1] I'm colourblind only truly being able to see turquoise (the color) without complete and utter confusion...only some confusion lol

2] I have premature arthritis mainly focused in my ankles.

3] I have had six surgeries in total throughout the course of my life.

message 1012: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments 3 - you've already stated you suffer from colorblindness and have previosuly mentioned bad ankles. so #3 is the lie.

message 1013: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Because it's catching I must keep my distance… besides, all the options have been chosen, but for the record:–

I SAY THE LIE is…1)

message 1014: by Eros (new)

Eros (spiritually_evolving_always) | 566 comments 3) Is true I have undergone six surgies total. Apendix removal, cancer cell removal, MRCA removal being the main ones.

2) Is true...When I walk on bad days my ankles click like a woman in high heels walking on polished ceramic floor tile.

1) Is the lie...With little to no confusion I am only able to see turquoise and blood red/crimson. Strange I know, but true. Turquoise is only confused with similar bright colours and red is the same while almost all other colours are a complete and utter confusion. Go figure someone who was renowned in school for artistic capabilities including that with colour is colour blind. My secret is using the colours that are labelled as those colours. haha...Even a fully blind man/woman would know by basic knowledge rather than sight that the sky is blue and the grass is green.

Marcie is the winner and had Roger been quick enough he too would have been the winner.

Eros (spiritually_evolving_always) | 566 comments Severe tornado warnings are dishing out all around my home. The sky is filled with so much pollen it is green right now. Pretty awesome to have a pollen tornado in my opinion. If I don't get back anytime soon it is due to such weather conditions and I have abandoned the rest of my home for my basement bedroom. Hope everyone upstairs makes it not fully concerned half as much about them as much as myself....lol jk...Just giving you guys a heads up.

Good luck Jacob! A pollen tornado would probably kill me just from the pollen (allergies), so that sounds pretty terrifying.

message 1018: by Eros (new)

Eros (spiritually_evolving_always) | 566 comments same for me, but it is pretty awesome looking.

jacob, hope it passes quickly and smoothly.

message 1023: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments 1 & 3 are correct. But I love old school (60's & 70's)!

I love music. And while my taste is very eclectic and I have several different genres on my iPod, raggae is not one of them. And classical is only on my pandora app.

Kit, you win!

message 1024: by Absinthe (new)

Absinthe wow! winning on both threads :P

1. I won a spelling bee in third grade
2. I won a superior award at a science fair in fifth grade
3. I won the award for best english student in high school

message 1025: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments 3) (Is that being cheeky? :-)

message 1026: by Rick (new)

Absinthe Marcie you are right! 2 is the lie, I only won an excellent, not a superior.

message 1029: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments sorry, guys. i forgot about this one.

1. i once took in a stray cat that did not care for dry cat food.

2. i once had a cat that came into my life before i started school and was with me all the way through the end of my high school years.

3. i once had a dog who as soon as she heard the keys jingle or heard us mention the words: 'you ready?' or 'lets go", would run out the screen door and jump into the car through the window or wait by the door.

message 1030: by Rick (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments 2) in that case…

message 1033: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments 3. it's true. we had to be like ninjas walking out of our own home cus there was no way i was able to turn down those puppy eyes.

2. *sniff* i did. she was my bbf. must of been around 4 at the time i found her under our van. i asked my dad if i can keep her and he said yes and told me take her to work w/us. my parents are farm laborers and at that time it was picking grape season. he probably was expecting for her to wonder off, but she never left my side. and we were inseparable from there on forward. *sniff* still miss her...

1. we did take in an adult stray cat. but once she tasted cat food she didn't want anything to do w/table scraps. like my dad would say, "pobre y delicada." :)

rick, you WIN!!

Rick | 15794 comments Kenneth Robeson was a House Name used by the publishers of pulp magazines so that they could avoid having to credit the actual authors, and thus pay the actual writers more if they wrote successful stories or if they changed the authors to avoid paying more so the fans wouldn't notice. Which of these statements is a lie:

1) Kenneth Robeson is almost exclusively associated with the pulp series: Doc Savage and The Avenger.

2) Paul Ernst is the author whose work is credited the most often to the name Kenneth Robeson.

3) Lester Dent is the author whose work is credited the most often to the name Kenneth Robeson.

message 1036: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments 2)

message 1037: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments Kenneth Robeson is the House Name that the publisher used for the series Doc Savage and The Avenger. While Paul Ernst wrote the original 24 novels about Richard Benson, the Avenger, this is not the majority of his work as a pulp writer, or pulpster; Lester Dent has about 165 Doc Savage books that he gets credit for either in whole or in part and while he wrote a lot of material through his years he is most closely associated with the name Kenneth Robeson. So #2 is the lie.

Take it away Roger!

message 1038: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments 1) I've spent more of my life wearing shorts than long pants

2) I don't drink alcohol

3) In winter et my prep school there was no heating, so we froze.

message 1039: by Rick (last edited Jul 19, 2015 06:47AM) (new)

Rick | 15794 comments I'm going with #3. It may have felt like there was no heat because it was so cold but I'm thinking your young minds just loved to exaggerate. It felt like you were freezing, but you really didn't, otherwise you'd be dead. And then I wouldn't have books like Satyr of Capri on my to-read list. ;)

message 1042: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Marcie, you're right. I most certainly do drink alcohol. I added up the other day and I have spent more years wearing shorts than long pants. In spite of Rick's impeccable logic, while we never actually died of hypothermia, in one of Britain's worst winters, the two unheated prefab classrooms were so cold that the students couldn't write because the ink had frozen in the ink wells (it was that long ago).

message 1043: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments So the ink froze, but the students didn't. Oh wait, you were all Inklings weren't you? I get it now.

:P

Congrats Marcie! :)

1. one of favorite movies is 3:10 to Yuma.

2. i love the Marvel movies.

3. my first movie choice (or preference) would be a romantic comedy.

message 1046: by Roger (new)

Roger, it is completely faulty if the initial premise is wrong. I think Billy Joel might Put it this way: "You may be right, I may be crazy, but it just might be a lunatic you're looking for."
