I depend on members to be way smarter than I am so thanks for making that observation.

Kit you got posting #1,400 so you win our top prize—Roger!

This posting belongs in the 2 Line Poem Game.
Posting it here is such a wasteful shame.

Absinthe I'm very confused about what's happening right now. if I dropped the ball on find the truth, I'm sorry? I didn't receive a notification for it. I can go check.

message 1406: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments No, no, it's me, Kit. I have to answer, but Rick got it already (cheat!) and he's right, I could never eat fish and chips ice cream…

so take it away Rick!

P.S. Sorry about the rhyming couplet back there. It won't happen again :)

message 1407: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments Bwahahahahahaha! Roger got a demerit! ;)

It's Black Friday, so today I have big plans to:

1) Stay home and watch movies beginning with The Brood (Cronenberg, 1979)
2) Read, read, read.
3) Stay home? No Way! I'm a good American and I'm going SHOPPING!

message 1409: by Monika (new)

Monika | 3337 comments Btw, I'm curious, do Americans really go nuts on Black Friday? Because every year media here shows some kind of insanely long queues and people running into the stores and grabbing whatever they can.
Couple of years ago when my mum saw it on TV she said "People are truly insane. I thought that long queues in front of closed shops went away with communism..." xDD

message 1410: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I can't help feel that you are right Monika :) Otherwise, The Brood sounds so tempting that I think #2 is the lie.

Black Friday here seems to have been a damp squib as far as retail outlets are concerned, not like last year when there were violent riots in shops all over the country.

message 1411: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments Sorry for lagging on this one guys...

@Monika, yes. People do go all kinds of crazy. I stopped doing it yeeeaaars ago.

Since I haven't seen a post from Rick in a while I'm going to go with #1

message 1412: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments Monika wrote: "#3"

And #3 is the LIE! I worked in retail for years and years in the US and I will NEVER voluntarily go back out into the hellish, post-apocalyptic nightmare that is Black Friday. I suppose if Ben Whishaw (or Daniel Craig) enticed me to go with him to go shopping on Black Friday I would. But like that's EVERY going to happen. :P

You win Monika! I'm just staying at home where it's safe from the crazy conspicuous consumers that call themselves 'Mericans. I shake my head in shame at my fellow citizens. (view spoiler)

Monika | 3337 comments Rick wrote: " the hellish, post-apocalyptic nightmare that is Black Friday. ..."

That is actually very similar to what I said when I saw a coverage on TV... O.o

1. I baked a cake an hour ago
2. I baked some rolls with herbs two hours ago
3. I baked two loaves of bread three hours ago

message 1423: by Roger (last edited Nov 29, 2015 07:01AM) (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments It's a fair cop, Guv—there's been nothing but gale-force winds and horizontal rain for days, so of course Monika is right!

ROFL, why do I have a feeling you were pouting while writing this Gruncle Rick? ;P

message 1428: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments You mean "Gruncle Rick"… ? ;-)

message 1429: by Monika (new)

Monika | 3337 comments Yes, edited especially for you ;) but honestly that's the first time I came across 'great uncle' or 'gruncle'. Maybe because we don't use anything other than 'uncle' . New things to learn all the time ;))

message 1430: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments Yeah, Gruncle Rick is good at pouting. As the baby in my generation for 17 years, I'm an expert at it. ;)

The scary thing is that with my newly arrived grand-nephew Ezra here, I'm also only weeks away (maybe days) from having a grand-niece as well.

message 1431: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Ah well, via Oliver I have three grand-nieces and two grand-nephews, and as far as I know they all speak only Schwiezerdütsch…

1. It was raining today a lot

Oh, I lost the "baby in the family" position when I was 17, that was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Not an issue anymore. At least I keep telling myself that. ;)

message 1439: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments I'll bet is wasn't "surprisingly sunny" so #3!
