Roger Kean | 17278 comments And………, Preston is right. I was a class-A swimmer and cross country runner, but I was so lousy at cricket they put me at the Silly Mid-Off position, or Longstop, and I was almost always out for a duck when batting. (Don't ask, Google it)

Take it away, Preston!

1. Today I made pot roast from scratch.

2. Today I made a frozen dinner in the microwave.

3. Today I ate raspberries grown in California.

I give my vote of #1 to the talented and ninja-like Marcie (of course it will only matter if #1 is correct) ;)

Preston | 20148 comments Kit was closest to what I usually do but today was very different and a first. Rick wins but Marcie was only 2 minutes too late. Great friend and super nice guy Rick is giving his turn to Marcie. GO MARCIE

I made pot roast in my brand new slow cooker. It was fabulous!

Marcie | 7096 comments @rick- *picks up ninja mask and winks. Followed by a hug*
Aww...gracias. We kind of clashed, huh?

@pres, wait. So you did make a pot roast? But this is find the lie, no?

message 1462: by Preston, Moderator (last edited Dec 02, 2015 03:57PM) (new)

Preston | 20148 comments @Marcie yes but I did not roast real pot. I ate my raspberries instead.
GO MARCIE

Marcie | 7096 comments *smiling*.....

Ok. Which situation that made blush like crazy did not happen:

1) During a trip to the emergency room w/my son I was lying with him on the bed. He started signing: Drunk in love by Beyoncé (clean version ;) and I joined in (cus we have our backs like that) when the cutest nurse ever pokes his head through the curtain and smiles.

2) Daughter and I were waiting in the car for my son to finish up with baseball practice. When a rap song came on. My daughter and I started dancing/throwing up "gangster" signs/moves while mouthing the lyrics to a song we didn't know when a parent walks buy to pick up his son.

3) One summer night my daughter and I were waiting outside in a parking lot (with no customers in sight) for my son to come out of the store. When a jam comes on and I started busting out w/some "moves" when we noticed a car couple spots down had people on it.

Rick | 15794 comments Ah, joie de vie! Joie de vie!

#3. Because the first two are just too hysterical. :D

ok sweetie. I know you have an injured boy to take care of and jury duty to negotiate on top of everything else you normally have going on. But there is this one little triviality dangling that we'd love to know the answer to. ;)

message 1469: by Marcie (new)

Marcie | 7096 comments Honey, I'm home :) And you're right. So let me get to it.

And sorry, y'all. But between a late night run to Emergency Room and jury duty life got a little more...hectic-er.

Number 1 & 2 are true. And sorry bro. I was to busy being hell of embarrassed that digits were the last thing on my mind :) As for #3. That was my daughter not me. And the difference there, that out the two of us she does not get embarrassed.

You wins, Rick! Go for it!

message 1470: by Rick (new)

Rick | 15794 comments Ok, I can't think of anything to lie about because I just watched a delightfully creepy film: It Follows (Mitchell, 2015). It was pretty good. Kind of a throw back to the horror films of the 80s in terms of texture and pacing. That's one of the reasons I enjoyed it. After the mid 80s horror movies became increasing formulaic and relied way to heavily on blood and gore instead of atmosphere and tension. This film has lots of the latter and not much of the former. So it's two thumbs up from me. ;)

Sooo, some horror films from the 1970s that I like are:

1) Alien (Scott, 1979)
2) Phantasm (Coscarelli, 1979)
3) The Amittyville Horror (Rosenberg, 1979)

Yep, you're right Roger. This is the lie. All I really remember about this film, the one time I saw it in the theater, was that I was really disappointed. Phantasm is a great low budget horror film with surprisingly effective special effects and wonderful music. Although it suffers from a disjointed narrative and borrows shamelessly from innumerable cultural references the clichés and campy performances only heighten the cultish appeal of the film. Ignore the sequels. As for Alien? That's one of my top all-time favorite films. ;)
Take away Roger. Lie to us!

2) I have visited Italy 8 time so far

3) I have visited Morocco 2 times so far

message 1478: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments You are right Monika wins! 3 is a lie, I have only ever been once to Morocco.

I have been in Spain 3 times, once as a two-week school companion to the sone of a wealthy Brit family with a castle in the Sierras above Torremolinos; once with our publishing company to 1986 "Computer Arena" conference held in Palma, Majorca; once to Seville and Cordoba to meet our Spanish book printers. To Italy 8 times, including a night stop-over in 1956 in the days when the BOAC flight to Lagos landed there so the passengers could have a slap up dinner before going on to Tripoli, Kano, Lagos. Thereafter to Rome on photographing trips, and last year to Video Games Week Milan.

Preston | 20148 comments #1 Is the lie Roger. Thanks for sending the great Christmas card but I'm not sending you one. There must be a Jacquie Lawson e-card you haven't seen yet I can zip off on the computer instead of doing it the hard way like you did air mail over the Atlantic Ocean. And you used Royal Mail personally given honours and blessed by the Queen her own self.

Roger Wins!

Preston | 20148 comments @Roger

PS: Thanks for shipping me the great Christmas present. Just like the Christmas card I didn't send you, I didn't send you a Christmas present either. Maybe someday your amazing generosity will rub off on me :)

Hey but if I was a super generous guy like you, you wouldn't have won this game so it all evens out.

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Hahaha :-))

Maybe someday your amazing generosity will rub off on me :) Pot calling kettle black, methinks :)

Oliver's sister-in-law Monika is a carer at a local hospice and always volunteers to work over Christmas, so we have her and Oliver's brother Franco around for a pre-Christmas-Christmas dinner the week before, and I will be giving them:

1) Roast turkey

2) Roast goose

3) 6-layer Limoncello cake
