Joanna Loves Reading (joannalovesreading) Welcome everyone to our July 2020 Classics Group Read; this month we'll be reading through Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen.

Friendly reminder that this is our spoiler-free thread. If you're ready to talk spoilers, feel free to head on over to the spoilers thread.

Who is joining in this read? Will it be your first time reading or is this a reread? How long have you been meaning to read this book? Did you join in any of the other Austen group reads?

Tiki-Tami I started reading Sense and Sensibility. My first time reading it. I read Emma for the first time last month. My favorite go to Jane Austen has always been Pride and Prejudice. So far I am enjoying Sense and Sensibility. Can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts on the book.

France-Andrée (iphigenie72) | 413 comments I will be rereading Sense and Sensibility with the group, I just joined so I haven't read the other Austen with you, but I have read them all once if not more; my favorite is Persuasion and read it again in 2020.

Renee (elenarenee) Sense and Sensibility is okay. I prefer P&P or Emma. I will explain why in a spoiler setting

Dylan | 1 comments Hello Bookclub community! This is my first time participating in a book club and first time reading Sense and Sensibility. I cannot be more excited. I had the book on my shelf for ages and finally I got to read it!

Joanna Loves Reading (joannalovesreading) I intend to listen. I am about due for a reread. It’s not my favorite Austen but it’s one of her better ones, in my opinion.

Lana | 138 comments Sense and Sensibility is my favourite Austen. I’m so excited for anyone reading this for the first time!

Jamie | 4 comments This is the first Jane Austen novel I have read. I have had the collection on my shelf for so long. Very excited to get started!

Sarina (syedah) | 2 comments Am already a few chapters in but it's the first time I'm reading this book. I hope this turns out insightful and entertaining till the end.

aPriL does feral sometimes (cheshirescratch) | 689 comments I intend to join in, reading for the first time this particular Austen novel. Need to finish some other books first!

Betsy | 930 comments After not enjoying Emma last month I'm not sure about if I'll be ready to give this one a go (as it deserves). Definitely in the future.

Understandable. Have you read it before? It definitely has a different feel to it than Emma, in my opinion.

I don’t really like Emma either it’s why I didn’t join last month, but Sense ans Sensibility has a different feel to it and the characters are more engaging.

Jessica | 2 comments Hi all new to the book club but excited to jump in! I have not read S&S fully before. I have picked it up several times. I’m looking forward to reading it all the way through!!

I agree, it was a struggle to finish reading Emma last month. It’s too soon for me to try Sense & Sensibility again this month. I have read it before & didn’t enjoy it.

Cassandra | 7 comments This is my first time reading S&S. I have enjoyed P&P and Emma very much. Excited to continue my journey through Austen's collection.

Brittany Murray | 23 comments Pride and prejudice and persuasion are two of my favorite books but I loathe Emma. I'm about 100 pages through S&S right now and sadly it seems to be going the way of Emma 😩

helena (helenoodle) i only just got access to the ebook from my library so i'm really going to have to cram to get it finished by august!

Renata (renalbac) This is my first month in the group and I decided to join this read! This would be my second Austen (Pride and Prejudice was my first, and I loved it)...this started off pretty slow for me, but since about a 1/3 into it I've been really engaged! Hope it stays that way.

message 20: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I love Sense and Sensibility. Not as much as P&P and Northanger Abbey, though.

If you want a little fun with S&S, try Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters -- it's quite a hoot!

Renee (elenarenee) Kirsten I love Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. There was a time when a lot of classic. monster mashup books were out. They were a guilty pleasure for me. I hope they make a come back

Renata; I'm confused? I thought in the poll thread that Sense & Sensibilty was the Sept read?
