A Minute to Midnight is the second book in the Atlee Pines series by Baldacci. It is about FBI agent Atlee Pines who is trying to solve the mystery of her twin sister who was kidnapped from their room when they were six years old. In this book Atlee travels to Andersonville, GA, the town where she lived when her sister was taken. Andersonville is a small rural town in Georgia whose claim to fame is that it was the location of the infamous Andersonville prison that held Union POW during the American Civil War.
I enjoyed this one even more than the first book in the series. The mysteries in the book were a little more of the police procedural style rather than the international conspiracy style of the first book. I liked learning more about Atlee's past and was happy with the progress made on that story arch. All of the suspects were interesting people that I liked and I found myself hoping that a number of them wouldn't be the murderer. Overall it was an entertaining mystery with some southern atmosphere. I will continue reading the series as the books come available.
This is a helpful review since I was still on the fence on this book. I was only lukewarm about the last Baldacci book I read (a memory man book), so I figured I'd take a break from this author.
