Total books read in February: 15
Total pages: 4,557
New favourite author: Jodi Taylor!!! All of The Chronicles of St. Mary's books are excellent so can't pick a favourite.
Biggest Surprise: An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green. That came out of nowhere and I loved it!
Biggest Disappointment: Survive by Vera Nazarian. This hurts my heart because I ADORED the first 2 books in the series. But books 3 & 4 were not good at all.
Picked up a lot of momentum in February! Great reading month and discovering Jodi Taylor will likely be in the top 5 of best things to happen to me in 2020.

Since I only read books by Jodi Taylor in March, there's no best or worst books of the month. I loved them all!! I definitely like The Chronicles of St. Mary's best but all of her books were great. What an awesome reading month!

Total number of books read in April: 8
Total pages: 3,240
Favourite book of April: Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston! This was so funny and well written. Brilliant!!
Biggest surprise: The Memory Book by Lara Avery was beautiful! I bought it about a year ago and never gave it a chance until this month. I'm SO glad I finally read it!
Biggest disappointment: The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman. Ok, this book wasn't bad, but after ODing on the extraordinary brilliance of Jodi Taylor, I was hoping for something similar and this just didn't measure up. Probably my own fault for reading it right after reading so many Jodi Taylor books.
By far my lowest rated books are from The Significance Series by Shelly Crane but I don't think I had high expectations going into them. I'm not surprised I didn't like them with all the insta-love, chosen one tropey shit throughout these books. There's one more book to the series but I won't be reading it.
I also read the first book, Doing Time, in Jodi Taylor's spin-off series to The Chronicles of St. Mary's and also gobbled up the 11th book of the Chronicles, Plan for the Worst. It's no surprise I loved both!
April was another great month!

Total books read in May: 13 including 1 DNF
Total pages: 4,713
Favourite book of May: No contest. Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid wins by a landslide.
Biggest Surprise: The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks was my first thriller in years! I forgot how much I loved suspenseful thrillers like this and now I can't wait to read more! Honourable mention goes to Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum. I loved this book too!
Biggest Disappointment: It's a tie between The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee and The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren. These two books were SO hyped everywhere as being FANTASTIC but I didn't like either of them. I couldn't connect to the characters in The Gentleman's Guide but I did appreciate the writing so will find something I like by this author. But The Unhoneymooners was just immature and stupid. Ugh. I don't want to talk about it.
I read 2 books by Taylor Jenkins Reid this month bringing my total to 3 by this author. I read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo last year and gave it 5 stars. I also gave the 2 I read this month 5 stars. She's definitely one of my new favourite authors.
May was another really good reading month despite the first DNF of the year and two over-hyped books that were huge disappointments.

Total books read in June: 15 books
Total pages: 3,976
Favourite book: Dread Nation by Justina Ireland was just SO damn good!! I adored it. But I have to give an honourable mention to I'm Not Dying with You Tonight by Kimberly Jones which I also loved!
Biggest Surprise: Elevation by Stephen King because this was CLASSIC King!! I've been a "constant reader" (code in the Kingverse for a huge fan) since the 80's and this brought me back to his short stories and novellas where he'd just write about weird shit and have me enthralled. It was SO great to feel that bit of nostalgia in one of his new works!
Funniest book: Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison. 😂 I still don't know what I read. Just let me say that a glimpse into the stream of consciousness of a 14 year old modern teenager is not for the faint of heart!! Fricken' hilarious!!🤣🤣
I don't have any disappointments this month even though I DNF'd a book. I don't think I was in the right head-space for that book and I'm going to give it a try again in the future.
Best Writing: It's a tie between The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern and Another Brooklyn by Jacqueline Woodson. I really enjoyed both of these books and their lyrical, poetic writing styles. They were beautiful.
June was a great month for reading even with another DNF'd book.
Next post will be my mid-year wrap up!

It's never too late to start recording your reading journey.
I loved how you discovered a new-to-you author in February then spent March just binge-reading that author.
Looks like you'll exceed your 100-book goal before the year's out! Nice!

It was a great first half of the year. I always read more in the summer so I expect the number of books to increase a LOT in the coming months. Hopefully I'll find as many great reads in the 2nd half of the year!

Total books read in July: 22 books + 1 DNF = 23
Total pages: 6,749 (not including DNF)
Favourite Book: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas was simply incredible! It is 100% worthy of the hype and praise it receives and Angie Thomas' writing is astounding. What a debut!! I also need to mention Tiffany D. Jackson and Monday's Not Coming which was also powerful and beautiful. I can't wait to read more by both of these authors!
Biggest Disappointment: Cinderella Is Dead just didn't work for me at all. In my opinion, it was over-hyped and just not well written. Cinderella is my favourite fairy tale and I loved the premise of this book. But the execution wasn't there. Also, Geekerella was just boring and predictable. Another Cinderella retelling that stuck closer to the original story but wasn't worth the time, in my opinion.
Biggest Surprise: Strange New World by Rachel Vincent I re-read the first book in this duology this month and rated it 3 stars. I fully expected the 2nd book to flop but I was both astonished and delighted by how great it was! I'll definitely read more from her.
Funniest Book: True by Katherine Hannigan was like receiving a gift I didn't know I wanted. This book was precious and so funny! The madcap adventures of Delly will live with me for a LONG time.
I also read two audiobooks this month which is something new for me. I enjoyed the experiences but it takes some getting used to. I don't think I'll every be a huge audiobook user but it's quite nice to have the option and I'm looking forward to trying a few more as audiobooks.
July was a fantastic reading month, my best of 2020 so far. Sadly, there was another DNF and one book that was a big disappointment but overall, it was pretty great!

What I think will work for me is organizing what I read by month and add some extras in there like my ratings and reviews and maybe total pages and other stats. I'll also pick my favourite of the month and my least favourite.
I'm hoping this turns out to be as fun as it sounds in my head!
