My name is Wilbur Arron and I am a new fantasy book author. What my books are about is how someone acts when faced with danger, oppression and violence. We are all taught certain standards of morality, ethics, behavior, and to a lesser extent, philosophy. I ask what happens to these standards when someone threatens you with immediate harm or death. How do you respond to people who care nothing about your standards of morality and society? They want what they want and they are willing to do anything to get it, including murder, rape and the total destruction of society. How do these social standards guide you when someone has you at the point of a sword? Do you give up, do you fight, or do you run?
If you fight, how do you fight? Do you try and maintain your ethical standards, or do you get down in the dirt and be a biggest bastard than the guy who threatens you. My books follow someone put in this position. Trained all his life to conform to one set of standards, he fights someone who believes these standards are only for fools and weaklings. Just how far would you go to combat this kind of enemy? What justification would you give to yourself and others about why you got just as nasty as your enemy did? Then add to this mix the envy and suspicions of your governmental leaders when you do manage to push the enemy back, and you have a toxic mix threatening to drown you in a sea of blood.
All these problems face my hero Alexio Sopholus in his adventures. My book are set in a world similar to Ancient Greece using their political and social norms of the period. My first two books are:
