"What makes you think I'm a selective mute?" He asked. "Don't you think after you calling me mute I'd have talked by now to prove you wrong?" He signed.

"Because selective mutes sometimes lose their voice and give up on themselves and forget out to speak" She said. "I'm not saying this is you but I have a feeling it it is. I could be wrong like always" She whispered

"And you could be right," he shrugged, "i don't know, it's been years." He admitted.

She nodded her head. "Well I should be going."

"Where? You don't seem like you have anywhere to stay," he signed.

She looked at him. "For your information" She sneezed some. "I have a place to stay but didn't wAnt to go there last night" she was telling the truth.

"Are you sure?" He signed, half expecting her to snap at him and say he was mute again.

"Yes I'm sure" She wasn't sure of anything anymore.

He nodded, "do you want me to drop you off?" He signed.

"No" She said. She looked at him. "Thank you" She got up and walked out. She did have a place to go it was a box in an alley way. It wasn't ideal but it would work.

He sighed but let her go, doubting she even really had a place to go to.

She walked out and went to her box. She had homemade bed and some feedsacks as blankets. It wasn't the best but she could make through it.

He sighed and got up, deciding to go for a walk in the middle of the night.

She snuggled into it. It was hard. She was freezing again.

He found himself walking in the direction where he had found Annabelle lying around, freezing to death.

It would get warmer. She thought it had to. It had to get better. She sneezed a little bit.

He heard a sneeze and looked around, he didn't see anyone so he continued walking.

She sneezed again. Her teeth started to chattered. She didn't need his help. She didn't need anyone. She looked down some. She should of stayed with him.

This time he heard the source of the sneeZe and also knew who it was, because she was sneezing almost half the time she slept. He took his jacket off and got into the box, "seriously?" He signed.

She nodded her head. "I'm fine." She said chattering. "I'm used to it."

"Come here," he shook his head and wrapped his jacket around her. "I offered you a place to stay for a while why didn't you just accept?" He signed.

She came over to him. "Because I dont need help."

"I wasn't offering help, I was offering a bed to be comfortable in," he signed and crossed his arms.

"I don't need help or pitty." She whispered. She looked up at him cold.

"Does it look like I'm pitying you? And from what it looks, you do need help. If you don't want it, then I guess you can live on the streets, alone, instead of an apartment with a warm bed and food to actually eat," he signed, not meaning to be harsh but thats what he needed to be sometimes.

"Yes you are your acting like I don't have anything." She said. "You don't understand anything and you think you do. Your pitting me." She said. "You feel bad that I don't have what your have or you wouldn't have offered a place for me to stay" She looked down. She was broken and she didn't think she would be healed again.

"Pity means I feel sorry for you, I don't feel sorry for you. I've been through lots of shit so no, pity isn't on my list and neither is letting you freeze to death. I can see everything in your eyes you know," he admitted. "From what you feel to what you try to cover."

Deep down inside she wanted pity and wanted someone to notice she was broken. She knew that was sstupid. "Pity is when people care about you." She said. "No one cares."

"No, pity is when people see what your going through and don't know how strong you are to get through it," he signed, feeling like he was going to combust. "You pity me for not being able to talk, others pity me for that too. Yet, here I am, getting through it. My cousin doesn't pity me and neither does his girlfriend, because I'm working on it."

"Stop" She was going to have a break down. "Stop." She begged him. She couldn't take it. "I don't pity no one because you would have to care." She said.

"Do you know why I don't pity you? Because despite all the shit, you're strong enough to get through it," he continued signing. "Now you can prove to me how fucking strong you are, or you can give me a reason to pity you and just sit there." He said.

She backed away. "I don't know who you think you are but this girl here isn't strong I'm not strong I'm far from strong." She said. She looked down. "Je ne suis pas la forte" She whispered in French. "I'm not strong." She repeated.

"But, do you want to look weak in front of me?" He signed, "no, you want to seem strong to everyone. Now make me believe it."

She didn't even answer him. She looked down some. "I'm not being weak. I don't expect help from no one" She said. "I don't need anyone"

He shook his head, "I'm not leaving you alone on the streets."

"your going to have drug me or knock me out because I don't need help"

"Fine, then I'm staying with you," he argued.

She shivered some. She was cold. She sneezed some. She couldn't take the cold.

"Come on, you're already sick," he pleaded softly.

She looked at him softly. Her head nodded a little bit. "Sure" She stammered. She was cold.

He picked her up off the floor and out of the box. He wrapped her up in his arms to warm her up plus she was tiny so it was easy. He walked back home and set her on the bed, wrapping the blanket around her.

She had many secrets to hide from him. She was so small because she didn't eat and when she did she puked it up. Not to mention that she suffered many mental illnesses.

He wrapped her up in the blankets he used earlier. "Keep the jacket," he told her as he turned the heat up.

She shivered some. She nodded her head. She was freezing. She was glad to have someone but how long could this last.

"Do you want a warm shower?" He asked, unsure.

She wanted to but she wasn't. "I'm too cold"

"It'll help warm you up and then you'll be able to wrap up in the blankets," he shrugged.

She nodded her head some. "Okay" She whispered. She did eat some food for breakfast awhile ago. So she should puke it up even if it was days ago. She was addicted to it.

He nodded, not sure what to say or do.

"Wheres the shower" She asked
