I also enjoyed Enola Holmes; it’s light and fun, and clearly takes its cues from the Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes movies. I genuinely laughed aloud a couple times.

I was surprised that Cavill wasn’t in it very much, given his presence in the advertising. Looks like he had about 5 days of shooting, and nearly all his scenes are in the trailer. I did think it was amusing that the actor who plays the older brother Mycroft Holmes is actually younger than Cavill.

I’m really impressed with Millie Bobbie Brown every time I see her. She is fully capable of carrying a movie.

It was a nice movie.

Trike | 11197 comments Finished Away on Netflix. There was a lot of melodrama mixed in with all the Apollo 13-type stuff as they headed to Mars, but I think they nailed the landing.

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5194 comments I'm a piker compared to y'all. Anyhoo, a week or so ago I finished The Mandalorian. I thought there were ten episodes so I was wondering how they would beat the double 7/8 episode. Er...

Wade Watson | 8 comments Forgot to record ep one of this new series last night so I just caught Next on the fox.com website. I'll probably continue watching the series. Somewhat like Person of Interest it concerns a master AI program that can control anything anywhere. Unlike that series, the one seems fairly hostile, though. So far it's all pretty believable with enough tech paranoia to make you want to move to the woods.

Fresno Bob | 602 comments Genre that I've seen recently and enjoyed, almost all of it pretty grim, The Boys, Utopia, Maniac, Lovecraft Country, Counterpart

I've finshed 2 seasons of Dark, which is one of the most convoluted shows I've watched, just finished Season 4 of Peaky Blinders

Midnight Diner is my "happy romp" but has more crying men than any show I've ever watched, I've kind of stalled on "Money Heist"

I'm at the beginning of "Occupied", so I'm watching Japanese, German, Norwegian and Spanish shows with subtitles, only my japanese bar talk is getting better

I did not like it. Dropped after 2 episodes.

Trike | 11197 comments Watched The Haunting of Bly Manor, a 9-episode series on Netflix based on the novella The Turn of the Screw. The 9 eps feel like 13, and it could’ve been done in one. 👎🏻

Trike | 11197 comments Finished watching Raised By Wolves on HBO. For a while there I thought that maybe Ridley Scott was going to redeem himself, but nope... just more of his Ancient Aliens/Chariots of the Gods BS. I have no idea what was happening in that final episode. It’s like a really long Prometheus.

I didn’t even make it through the trailer.

I watched 1.5 episodes of Primal, Genndy Tartakovsky’s new show, and sweet baby yoda is that unrelentingly grim and violent. The infant murders in the first episode alone were brutal. So I Noped out of that right quick.

I didn’t care for Samurai Jack or his Star Wars bits, either, so his stuff clearly isn’t for me.

I’m also struggling a bit with The Boys. It’s so twisted I feel gross after watching an episode.

Thank god for Kim’s Convenience.

This week's episode was very western-ish, apart from the "dragon"

Go AOC for 2024 😃

Why do you know so much about our politicians? Most Americans think the king of Australia is Crocodile Dundee.

No way! The King of Australia was Steve Irwin, succeeded by his daughter Bindi, now the Queen of Australia.

Trike wrote: "Why do you know so much about our politicians? "

US politics feature heavily on our News networks.

I don't have much time for any of them. But AOC is closest to my own political view. Yes, I'm a pinko 😉 (i.e. a socialist) which is fairly mainstream in our Labor party.

Viola | 188 comments Finished the last season of Star Wars Rebels the other day. That last season got really intense towards the end. For a series being aimed at a younger audience it really packed a punch. At the end of the episode Jedi Night I actually cried.

It was a good show.

I feel it was one of the best shows that was on TV at the time it was "live". I know people overlook it as a cartoon, star wars or a kids show, but it really was well done. I cried several times in that series.

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5194 comments I don't watch much TV nor for that matter watch many movies. I was a while getting to the Mandalorian. It was two cuts above most things I can even be bothered to try to watch. (Expanse is generally one cut above.) I won't watch until there's three or four episodes so I can have the feeling of watching when I want. But definitely looking forward to it.
