Yasmin (museyasmin) Hey there, my name is Yasmin and I want to read 19 books in 2015. My goal is to read 19 books because I turn 19 this year. I know, that's a strange reason but this number can work for me as I've read 17 books last year although I was really lazy.

I am (finally!!!) finishing school this year, my exams start in April. I hope this won't have any influence on my reading habits.. except maybe that I'll read more books in English before my English exams and I will also have to reread a lot of books or at least their descriptions for my German exam.
After the exams I will have a lot of free time and I hope that I won't waste it on watching series day and night xD

A few words on my reading habits:
I think of me as a bookworm - I love reading, I love owning books, staring at them, smelling them and holding them in my hands. I often buy books because I just really want to own them but sometimes the end up laying on my bookshelves unread for years. I am really embarassed of this and always want to read them but I can't help myself because there are just SO MANY BOOKS IN THE WORLD!!
I can't say if I am a slow or a fast reader - I've finished Jane Eyre in 9 hours but it all depends on whether I really can't live without the book or... not. Also schools takes a lot of my time and I am really looking forward to the times where there will be no school literature anymore and I'll be free to read whenever and whatever I want!!!

This year I also NEED to read more books in German. I prefer reading in English or Russian because German has a very complicated syntax but I need to perfect my German so here it is, more reading-in-German.

Also a couple of words to the group administrators:
1) I am very sorry if I make mistakes and set to many commas as English is not my native language.
2) I really want to be a member of this group but I forget a lot of things, so I am sorry if I won't update this topic for a month or something because I have other things to worry about e.g. my EXAMS and Internet is not the most important thing in my life

Thank you for your attention,
challenge accepted :)

Yasmin (museyasmin) I am currently reading a book by a Russian author Lyudmila Ulitskaya which is called "The Green Tent" (or "The Big Green Tent"). The book is more than 500 pages long and I've already read 1/4 of it *proud*.

Unfortunately, I have to interrupt my reading process untill Friday since I have to start reading "Antigone" by Sophocles for my German class which we'll discuss on Friday :(

So these are my first two books in 2015:
#1 "The Big Green Tent" by Lyudmila Ulitskaya
#2 "Antigone" by Sophocles

Cassandra | 5832 comments Yasmin, first of all, welcome to the group!

Quite a few of our members have native languages other than English, so you're in good company there! We certainly won't be offended if you make grammar or spelling mistakes - we aren't that kind of group.

As far as participation goes, it's up to you how much you want to participate in activities and how often you want to update your challenge. We won't remove you from the group for inactivity, so use the group as much as makes sense for you, and forget the rest.

I hope that helps make you feel more comfortable here, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. :)

Yasmin (museyasmin) So I've finished reading both 'Antigone' by Sophocles and 'The Big Green Tent'...
Antigone was quite boring - I already saw the play in theatre last year and I knew what it all was about so I didn't enjoy it at all :-(

But. 'The Big Green Tent' is my new absolute favourite. It tells so much about Sovjet Union's inofficial history... about so many fates and stories of people - how they lived, loved, what inspired them. This book is mostly about people and it is very kind. There are also a lot of episodes with repressions, KGB, emigration and stuff. A very moving book... I'm not even sure I can digest the whole thing by reading it once... I think I'll have to read it one more time to understand some things I didn't notice...

Yasmin (museyasmin) I am looking forward to reading my last school book *yaaay!*. It's also called 'Antigone' but it was written by a French writer in the Nazi-occupied France... I think it should be interesting :3
And the second book I'm going to read is 'The book of lost stories', which i was given by a friend of mine..

Jodi (readinbooks) | 1971 comments Hi Yasmin,

Welcome to the group. I like that you want to read the same number of books as your age! It is fun connect different things, like your age to reading.

Your review of The Big Green Tent: A Novel has made me want to read it. I have added it to my "To Read" list.
