I LOVED it. And yes, definitely love them more than Susana and Bram, I don't even know if I liked them 😅. And because Colin and Minerva are so *chef's kiss* I felt nothing in those chapters where Thorne interacts with Kate, I'm scared for that book, what if I don't enjoy it????

Chapter 4: After kissing when she thinks he'll go with her and he tells her he felt bad about last night. Oh, Colin :( He has good intentions but damn, it always ends bad.

*Yes! I love how he calls her any other M name EXCEPT her own. And I found something about the names especially funny, but I'm pretty sure you haven't reached that part yet. I'm just gonna say it happens in a chapter that follows Thorne and Kate.. you'll know when you read it.

*She has to call him by his Christian name 😂😂😂😂😂 See, that's normal. Not to call the dude by his nick name that is made out of his last name.

Chapter 6: When they were about to go on the journey, and then Colin appeared and said he didn't say he'll go with her. I was so sad, I wanted to cry. I mean she made 3 trips to get her bags! She was excited to go and then he boom.. I didn't say I'm going.

* 😂😂😂😂 Colin the grammar nazi
* Colin knowing what a logarithm is.. I have to say I was thinking of him as not that smart 😅😬
* "She was right, he told himself. Her breasts were nothing out of the ordinary. To begin with, there were two of them. The usual number." 😂😂😂😂

*Yes, the thing at the in was 😬😬😬😬😬

And since the inn scene is the last you commented, and I don't know if that's the 40% mark I'm going to post in another comment the rest of things I bookmarked til the end.

Chapter 13: I think this can go without spoiler tags. I want to say that I just love how Colin can get into story telling. I wonder how people truly believed in his tales, like that's absurd! But then I remember it's historical so *shrugs*

Chapter 14: (view spoiler)

Chapter 15: “Well, you’re right on that score. He will marry her. I’ll see to that. The only question is whether he’s doing it willingly now, or whether he’ll marry her when he comes back”—the big man cracked his neck—“at the point of my pistol.”

Awwww Thorne

Chapter 16: (view spoiler)

Chapter 17: After standing back a moment to look at her, he untied one of the ribbon bows and left its ends dangling.
“Why would you do that?”
His eyebrow arched. “It makes a suggestion.”
“The suggestion being that I’m loose?”

I loooooove double meanings 😁😂

Chapter 18: “Such lovely marble, to be so misused.” She ran her fingers over the cool, smooth stone. Then withdrew her hand immediately when she realized the cylindrical protuberance she’d grasped was not a horn, nor a pipe. 😂😂

Chapter 19: She said, “I did as you asked and played your mistress downstairs, and I’ve earned this much. I want to see and touch it properly. I never had the chance, before.”

So, I like how even though she has no experience whatsoever she's so chill. Which is one of many other reasons I really like Minerva.

*Her asking for its name 😂😂😂

Chapter 20: I just love situations like this, when characters and the readers know something other characters don't know 😂 “I walk the tightrope, and my lady here . . .” He stretched his arm around Minerva, drawing her close. “She’s a first-rate sword swallower.”

Chapter 23 and beginning of 24: The surprise... yep, that was definitely a surprise, but not a good way to do that.

Chapter 30: He squeezed Minerva’s hands. “We’ve come this far. We’re not giving up now. This is the story of our future—the one we’re going to tell our friendsand dinner guests and children and grandchildren—and the story doesn’t end with defeat. It ends in triumph. Your triumph.

I love how he supports her... and Francine :D

luna ☾ (lunargoddessera) I finished this yesterday but you know my power was gone until today so here I am nooow! AND ALL OF THIS.

I LOVED THEM SO MUCH!
Like, I'm not gonna lie, I procrastinated starting it for a little bit bc I was scared I wouldn't like it even though I was the most excited about this one but damn, I had NOTHING to worry about.

This is just a trend in the historical romance world. I always seem to gravitate towards the "himbos" who have sharp wits and light dispositions BUT has sad histories. Like they make jokes and jokes and they're funny but they have this sadness to them. I love that shit. And usually they're paired off with someone that is "unusual" to society and they bicker and then start to care and the payoff of that romance is always worthy of 5 stars. ALWAYS.

I'm absolutely in love with how he did everything in his power to not let her down and keep his promise and then I loved how she did everything she could to not let him relive that night his parents die, even going so far as to hold him at gunpoint AND shoot Francine. THAT'S LOVE.

And I agree with you 100%. Even though she was inexperienced, she never shied away from her curiosity. That was such a breath of fresh air in this genre.

All of your funny moments are my bookmarked moments tbh 😂😂 But I had a special moment with "first-rate sword swallower". I DIED.

Also, I was just looking in my bookmarks and that part where they swam into the cove and he was so scared about it and he named all the names in the bible 😂 aw and when Minerva saw his mansion for the first time and she's like "it's lovely. all that granite". I fell even more in love like colin did lmao 😂

luna ☾ (lunargoddessera) @Mina, book 3 in august? 😂

I wanted to add that the Kate and Thorne scenes in this also didn't particularly hurry me to read their book? I didn't really find them as exciting as Minerva and Colin. Their scenes here were okay...

Yeah, definitely in August.

Compared to Minerva and Colin it was tame/lame. So I already don't have high expectations. Plus you said the ratings are a bit 😬

Ooooh, are you going to read the 1.5 novella? I got it but didn't know if you wanted to read that too together or...

luna ☾ (lunargoddessera) I'm definitely in because I wanted to complete the series haha! Just need to get it as well and maybe jog my memory on who those characters are 😅😅

She didn't really stand out to me so I don't really remember. Only, maybe... isn't she the girl that came to Susana's castle to tell that the guys have taken over the tea shop and made it a tavern? 🤔

luna ☾ (lunargoddessera) Errrrrrrrm, I have no bloody idea 😅 I remember that there was a girl who called them but I couldn't tell you which girl it was 😅 But it's okay! Still gonna read it for "series completion"'s sake

I wouldn't remember it either, but I think when she barged in Bram was thinking oh, she looks familiar, who is she. And then Susana asked the girl what was going on and used her name too.
