How could one 11 year old do so much damage? I was pretty shocked to read Gemma's past. I understand it a little but she did go too far in my opinion. It reminds me of a very backwards rendition of the TV show Revenge. It's set in the Hamptons - she wants revenge for something she sees as wrong. Only this time around she eventually feels remorse. I wonder where the story will go from here and how it will turn into a trilogy.
Agree, Lauren! It definitely spiraled out of control. But I think that's the point - maybe you say something about someone else and don't mean for it to be permanent damage but rumors and gossip spread like wildfire and once you put them out there, they can change and shift so much. I actually thought the thing she did would be more about Hallie and less about her mom. I just keep having to remember she was eleven years old when all this happened. She really didn't understand the situation and was told her parents would be getting back together. While I don't like what she did and she definitely took it too far, I do understand the why she felt that way... But I'm enjoying it so far! Really interested to see how she keeps up the act. Also, LOVE Revenge!!! Haha
I agree she definitely didn't understand she was destroying her career. But I'm also amazed at how she could come up with all these crazy plots at a young age.

I'm glad Gemma feels remorse, I figured this book was more about getting revenge than righting wrongs. I would really like to see Hallie's perspective on all of this! (Sorry I'm a day behind with this book, planning to catch up tomorrow :))

Yes it does have a revenge type feel. I didn't know this was a 3 book series. I never even heard of this book before.
