Charly | 2 comments Hey guys,

I'm not a native reader and would love to improve my English by way of listening to different accents. Therefore I'm looking for an audiobook, not exclusively Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy in which the narrator has either a (preferably strong) Scottish or Irish accent. I know it sounds weird but I do have problems when ppl with a rather strong accent talk to me and i would love to get used to hearing different kinds of English, so i'd be really happy if you could help me. Thanks in advance!

for contemporary romance (no PNR or Urban Fantasy)

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 49 comments Ok, I totally know it's not what you asked about but I couldn't resist.

English is a second language for me so I get thrown for a loop sometimes.

This is the review of a game back in 2013 done by a guy speaking with a Scottish accent. The game is Far Cry 3 (so basically a shot and kill game), not particularly original but the reviewer with his off hand delivery (and the scottish accent) makes it fun to listen to. I cried while laughing the first time around.

You can find the review at kotaku.com....

C.A. Mitchell (camitchell) | 8 comments Irvine Welsh's books are narrated by a Scot on Audible. As far as I'm aware, his books are written in a mix of English, Standard Scots English, and Scots (confusing, eh?!), so you might struggle with some of the words if you're not familiar with Scots. I'm happy to translate anything you're stuck with :)

C.A. Mitchell (camitchell) | 8 comments ...Oh, Peter Capaldi narrates a couple of books. Just search for him on Audible.com.

***Have just listened to a couple of samples and he's doing accents! Not sure if he switches to his natural voice for different characters.**

Shona (shonahusk) The How to Train your Dragon series is read by David Tennant (I know they are kids books but they are lots of fun and perfect for the school runs).
