Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments What book about the Tudors or Tudor England would you like to have as our Group Read in September 2020?

If it's in a series, can it be easily read as a stand-alone? If not, you might want to nominate the first book in the series, or the most recent book in it the group has not read together.

Can't remember what we've already read as a group? (Sometimes I can't, either.) There's a "group-reads" shelf on the group's Bookshelf.

Two nominations to a person, please.

Natalie (creativecountry0407gmailcom) | 163 comments I will nominate The Spanish Bride by Georgette Heyer and To Die For A Novel of Anne Boleyn (Ladies in Waiting, #1) by Sandra Byrd .

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments Georgette Heyer's The Spanish Bride is set during the Napoleonic Wars, so I'm going to have to say no to that one.

Were you thinking Laurien Gardner's The Spanish Bride? That's eligible and we haven't read it.

Natalie (creativecountry0407gmailcom) | 163 comments @Susanna: Yes, I meant The Spanish Bride by Laurien Gardner .

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments Okey dokey then.

William Whalen | 68 comments I will nominate Sir Francis Drake The Queen's Pirate by Harry Kelsey by Harry Kelsey and Mary I England's Catholic Queen (English Monarchs Series) by John Edwards by John Edwards.

Christine Hartweg | 48 comments I'dlike to nominate John Dudley The Life of Lady Jane Grey's Father-in-Law by Christine Hartweg and Graven With Diamonds The Many Lives of Thomas Wyatt. Courtier, Poet, Assassin, Spy by Nicola Shulman

Sandra (sandragulland) | 11 comments I'd like to nominate HAMNET by Maggie:
O'Farrell Hamnet
"A short, piercing, deeply moving new novel about the death of Shakespeare's eleven-year-old son Hamnet--a name interchangeable with Hamlet in fifteenth-century Britain--and the years leading up to the production of his great play." It has GLOWING reviews. That said, it looks difficult to get in Canada.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments I will probably close nominations later today, so if anyone has a suggestion to make, now is a good time to do so.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments Alright, I will nominate Queen of Scots: The True Life of Mary Stuart by John Guy, and Murder by Misrule by Anna Castle.

And with that I close nominations.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments The poll is now open.

You'll find it at the top of the group's Polls page, the bottom of its Home page, or here: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/2... .

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments If the poll closed now (which it does not) - the winner would be Queen of Scots: The True Life of Mary Stuart.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 2167 comments The winner was indeed the John Guy biography, and we'll be discussing it here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... .
