Athena Vosh lives just like any other teenager from the year 2099. She watches reality shows with her friends, eats well, and occasionally wonders to herself: what would life be like if men were still alive?

It has been almost 50 years since an experimental virus accidentally killed all the men on earth. However, a controversial project is currently underway to bring men back. There's just one catch. The project has been sabotaged.

So begins Athena's Choice. When the police of 2099 are tasked with finding the saboteur, they receive a mysterious command to investigate the otherwise innocuous Athena Vosh. After it becomes clear that the young girl might know more than she lets on, Athena is brought in to participate in the official investigation. Simultaneously, the girl begins to experience a series of cryptic dreams featuring a ruined library and an old book containing the saboteur’s true identity. As the police close in on their prize, Athena finds herself on a journey of her own. Her clue-filled dreams and incorruptible spirit bring her face-to-face with a pair of forgotten truths about happiness and gender. The world waits to see if men will return as Athena fights a separate battle, culminating in the choice that will define her and others' lives forever.

There's a debate about bringing back the men, if it's safe or not etc. I don't understand why the AI chose to speak to her but I'm curious. (hide spoiler)]

Lol for some reason I didn't really read today! I was so busy playing catch up in books I read over the weekend. Ugh, I'm finally diving into books but I wasted the day away for prime audiobook time! I'm gonna have to catch up on those tomorrow.

Listening to audiobooks is still reading but yeah I get that you might have to take some time to catch up with reviews etc. When that happens, I kind of hate it so I try to write them one at a time. I don't read as much as you obviously so I don't have that problem often ^^

Lol well it was my dad's birthday over the weekend so I was working on the spreadsheets for September's challenge and for the next team quarterly. Plus I started working on the October and November/December challenge documents as well. Super excited for them!

yeah honestly the next two quarterlies both look good too! just need to finish mine. I was hoping to knock out the October one today but I just sucked into all kinds of chores. So maybe I will get that one done tomorrow.

100% - (view spoiler)[So the dreams came from the AI and Athena was chosen because the AI knew Grace wouldn't harm her because she's her aunt. And she infected her own brother. That's so messed up. I knew this book was probably going to end up with Athena having to choose to allow men back or not but it feels unbelievable that she would be the only one responsible for "the future of mankind". And the author left us on an open ending or did I miss something?

So... this book was ok I guess? but I feel like it missed the mark for me. It has a really interesting premise but I felt like I was listening to a different book than what I expected. (hide spoiler)]

OMG THOSE IMPLANTS! Also, I kind of want to know more about the guys? I just feel like the weird and awkward pausing in the audio is making me lose interest fast.

Do the pauses happen often? I keep my phone on most of the time when I'm listening to it so it's not a problem I have. My issue is the space that the app is taking. It's crazy! And when I uninstalled and re-downloaded it to see if they fixed it I couldn't download one of the audios anymore so it kind of sucks.

Yes, the pauses happen in each chapter and it's really annoying lol. I keep thinking it's like skipping chapters but it hasn't done that yet. Just usually stops the chapter altogether or just long ass awkward pauses and I'm like.. is the book over?
