This thread is where you can chat about all things PIFM, ask questions and once books have been read, review your selected reads. A complete free for all.

PLEASE NOTE:

PIFM is meant to be FUN and not to be taken seriously. I would appreciate it if all participants just chilled and not get worked up about voting, who votes, who doesn't, etc. Please bear in mind that some will just want to vote, many don't come on everyday and most of us have time constraints. I just want a relaxed approach to it all and for you all to just enjoy the process! I'd really appreciate your courtesy in this matter. Many thanks.

Kirsten (kmcripn) Hey, guys, I posted my October list. Right now, I have only 1 vote. So, if you haven't voted, please do so

Kirsten (kmcripn) Hey, guys, just to remind you that only two people have voted on my October list.

Perri | -43 comments I'm in denial about summer coming to an end! But yeah, almost Sept so I'll put up my list next couple of days and vote.

Perri | -43 comments Brenda do you get given books to read? None of yours are available at my library yet or on Overdrive!

No, if I can’t get a certain book from a library, I search online used book sellers. Twisted (from AbeBooks.com) and The Memory Wood (from Bookdepository.com) are physical books. The other three are Kindle books from Amazon.

I also don’t keep my physical books after I read them. I usually post them on PaperBackSwap.com, and I’ve been known to mail them to Goodreads friends just to pass them along. If there’s one you want, I’m happy to send it!

Many libraries take in donated books which they sell to make money for the library!

My library is in the process of building a new facility. Covid put a stop to all construction in NYS in March, and work has only recently started again. Because of that and lack of storage space, the library is not accepting donations.

Kirsten (kmcripn) Perri - I really, really want to read A Dark Matter by Michelle Pavel, is that the one you have? I haven't been able to find an inexpensive copy yet. I heard an abridgement on BBC and really spooked.

message 16: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments Kirsten that's the one! I don't think it's even out yet, but hopefully libraries will have it soon. I read Dark Matter by Blake Crouch and thought it was pretty mind bending. I see Straub wrote Ghost Story Maybe I should have included that one

message 17: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 23 comments Please @Dana I need a tie-breaker for October. Everyone else who put in selections has voted already.

message 18: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments I think Dana might be busy with new baby, you can always ask Moderator Janet to break a tie

Ghost Story was one of the scariest books I ever read! That and [book:The Ruins|21726] by Scott Smith.

I haven't read Dark Matter by Crouch, but I recently finished Recursion and that was quite mind bending.

message 28: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis I started a book today! I think it was my pick from May (or so).
Fragile (The Hollows, #1) by Lisa Unger Fragile
I just blew through 20% of the book. I can relate to the main character who is a mother of a high school boy. I think she hit that part SPOT ON!
It feels good to relax and read, though this book has me wondering how all these characters are going to connect!
