1)The Outside by Ada Hoffmann (science fiction) 390 pages. Source:Library Started: 7/1 Finished: 7/5
Why Read: It was a BOM on the GR group Women of the Future. Also, the protagonist is an autistic woman like the author. There are relatively few books with female autistic MCs.
Comments: The MC is an autistic woman scientist who developed a new energy drive, and gets an awful shock when it's turned on for the first time. I gave it a B.
2)The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow (alternate historical fantasy) Source: Net Galley Started: 7/5 Finished: 7/11
Why Read: I was so glad to get approved for this book which seemed to be about witches who were suffragettes. I couldn't wait to read it. It's not going to be published until October.
Comments: This book isn't primarily about suffragettes, but it's definitely about witches in an alternate continuity. There were three sisters who were witches. I gave it an A.

Why Read: I love fairy tales and I'm interested in the way disabled characters are portrayed. Also. the author is disabled.
Comments: Some insights into fairy tales that I never thought about, but I didn't find all the author's commentary relevant. I gave it a B.
