Beckett aids Mercy and Eden in escaping the compound before the assault. He said it was because he didn’t approve of killing women. What did you think was his moral code, given how poorly he treated most in the group?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments He was a surprise; perhaps he was raised to treat women better than the group did and that part of his moral upbringing stuck.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments It surprised me that he was the one who let Mercy out of her prison. He seemed like such a jerk. I was surprised he had any problem with killing women vs. killing men.

This caught me off guard, too. As I gave it more thought, it occurred to me that Beckett always did things his own way. We just didn’t know that he had a line he wouldn’t cross. While it was a surprise, his decision to employ his own code was consistent with whom we’d seen throughout the story.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments My first thought was WOW what does Beckett have up his sleeve. He put his life in danger by letting Mercy go because Pete would have punished him for sure.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 9285 comments Mod
I don’t think Beckett really feared Pete. He followed and enforced his rules but I always got the sense that it was more something he chose to do versus feeling obligated to be obedient.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments You're right. Maybe Becket felt he could take Pete on or they were close enough that he would be forgiven.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) That was a surprise. But it's true, killing a woman is way different to being rude and taciturn. Maybe it went back to how he was raised, we didn't really have any background on him and that was just a line he wasn't prepared to cross.
