Back on the old forum, I did a thread where I invited everyone to chose three favourite tracks from successive decades. As we're in a year with a zero at the end, I have delved back into albums in my collection from 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, and 2010 along with this year's releases and selected one track from each to form a series of playlists.

No, it's tracks from albums released in years ending in a zero, so 2020, 2010, 2000, 1990, 1980, 1970, etc if you go back before then

For my 1970 post (below) I've cut out a heck of a lot; got loads of albums from that year, so bypassed many (but not all) more obvious names in favour of the under-appreciated and left-field (that's my thing!), plus also anything already given a link by Jim has been left out to avoid duplication.

Phew, I thought it was just me being dense as usual. Took me a little while to work out exactly what Jim was wanting us to do. My interpretation = look through your music collection and find albums that you have that were release in a year ending with a "0". Then pick one favourite song off each album & post the results here along with a link. Is that right Jim/Tim?

Except, I don't keep a catalogue of what I own & my memory is buggered up, so...ummmm.
Fortunately I know I don't have much pre-punk stuff so I'm going to ignore 1970. And I'm not sure I see the point of "doing" 2020 yet especially as we post stuff on the "Cream Of 2020" thread & usually have an end of year round up.

What albums do you own that were released in 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000 & 2010? Once you've worked out what you've got then post your one favourite track from each album you own.

Eg. I'm sure you have "In The Flat Field" & "The Affectionate Punch" from 1980, oh and "Violator" & "Heaven Or Las Vegas" & "Vision Thing" from 1990, amongst many others. Choose one favourite song off each. Post your lists on here.

Interesting how few album overlaps we've got. I do own The Pretenders debut album, but Wikipedia has it down as a 1979 release (admittedly, it was December 27th 1979 in the UK and 19th January 1980 in the US). I also have The The's Naked Self, but again, I have it as a 1999 release. Other than that, I've only doubled up on Bridge Over Troubled Water and After The Gold Rush. I do have The Soft Machine's Third album, but as each track is nearly 20 minutes long, I decided to give it a miss. I agree, there's no point in doing 2020 as the Cream Of rounds will cover that.

Having checked I see it was released on 27.12.79 in the states, but 07.01.80 in Britain. Take your pick. 😀

Apart from the above two, I've doubled up on Let It Be and Déjà Vu. One of my problems is that I've only got my CD collection indexed. And I tend to enter the year of that particular CD's release, which might be a re-issue of the original vinyl or an Australian release etc. So I haven't gone to the vinyl collection (which is anally arranged by the date it was purchased!) or gone looking for the original release dates of albums I have on CD.

EDIT: I also noticed the discrepancy with release date for Bridge Over... AllMusic gives it as 1970 and Discogs says it was released 1969 in Germany and Austria only. It was a 1970 album for me.

That's very weird. Here's the wiki page for the album https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretend... with the dates I gave above (strangely though, the side box says 11 Jan 80 for the UK). The album entered the UK album chart on week ending 19.01.80 (Guinness British Hit Singles & Albums, 2004 edn). Discogs gives a straight 1980 for all countries. 🤔🤪😎
