Helen Erwin | 25 comments Has anyone used BookDaily as a promotion tool?

It costs 49 dollars per month and I wonder if it is worth it? I hesitate to pay for things like this, but I really know nothing about it.

Has anyone tried this approach?

Lenita Sheridan | 1010 comments Bookbzz.com costs $15 a month, or $7.50 if you only have one book. I think that's enough to pay, and I'm not sure I'm willing to pay it. You have to be a paying member to enter their contest. I'm looking into other avenues.

D.D. Story | 26 comments I paid for the BookDaily for a month. I'm three days into it, so its a bit early to tell. They are slow to answer, when you have a question.

Mellie (mellie42) | 644 comments There's a huge thread about them already. Consensus is they are a scam. While they will email your sample chapter out to tens of thousands of people, they are just spammers and have a minuscule open rate. For $49/month (nearly $600/year) there are much better ways to spend your advertising dollars.

How about Bookbzz.com? Do you know anything about them? Tomorrow's the last day of the contest, and I was thinking of reconsidering.

Ask yourself how many readers use Bookbzzr, as opposed to how many authors have paid to be listed on that site.

Many of these sites are just authors trying to sell their books to other authors. I did some asking around for my own research and found readers use GR and maybe Bookbub. That's it. Most readers don't waste their times with all these other sites that authors are propping up. But do your own research, dig deeper, ask readers. You have to make up your own mind about where to spend your marketing dollars, I've become very cynical and stick to Bookbub.

Wayne Kerr (m0nst3rs) | 5 comments I'm looking at the Bookbzzr website and it seems to be more about tools to make your books look slicker online than a reader website. Has anyone tried it?

I understand that authors can make a free account on Bookbzzr and download information about themselves and excerpts of their books. I just created an account on this site and it seems really helpful to the author.

Adam Bender (adambender) | 32 comments I've had modest success with Story Cartel and their founder Joe seems like a good guy. He answered a few questions about the site for my blog recently (http://www.adambenderwrites.com/blog/...). Might be worth a try.

Lenita Sheridan | 1010 comments Yes, I've tried Story Cartel myself with some success, but now that I've become more familiar with Goodreads and also some groups on LinkedIn, I've found that I don't need their services anymore, after all it is a pay site for authors.

Wayne Kerr (m0nst3rs) | 5 comments Thanks Lenita. What are some of the groups that have been helpful on LinkedIn?
