Robert Brown | 9 comments My name is Rob, and I'm proud to say that I've recently self-published the first part of my series of novellas, titled: WHERE THE TREE AT?

As expected, sales and reviews have been slow. I'm not too concerned with the low sales, but I would like more reviews. I feel I have written something beautiful and would like those who are interested in immersing themselves in a story for about two hours, to give it a read.

The ebook is free with Kindle Unlimited or 99 cents on Amazon if you'd like to support. I can also email a copy!

For those who take the time to read my story, thank you so much! Please leave an honest review on Goodreads and Amazon if you can!

Trigger Warning: Some swearing, some violence, some drug use, and some sexual content, all coated in some good ol' fashion nihilism.

Book Description: This is an introspective piece, centered on its enigmatic, pot-dealing main character Baron. Baron is a twenty-four-year-old aspiring writer on the verge of completing his first screenplay. Existing perpetually in a state of contemplation, his work gets pushed to the wayside as he maneuvers through life in search of peace of mind. Attributing his sorrows to the lack of authenticity in present society, he escapes from his life to dissect his being in absolute solitude, only to find out he’s the source of his discontentment. After an accumulation of poor decisions, he finds himself in a difficult situation, forcing him to either expedite the process of achieving his creative aspirations or remain idle and suffer the consequences of his actions.

P.L. Tavormina | 24 comments Hey Rob, Are you in KDP Select? If you email copies you may possibly risk violating Amazon's terms of exclusivity. There are ways for you to email copies, but from what I understand simply sending copies out because it is 'yours' might break the rules.

Something to look into, anyway.

Good luck with readers!

Jim Vuksic | 1227 comments Rob,

Books, symposiums, classes, and lectures written or conducted by well-established, commercially successful authors, publishers, agents, and editors all emphasize that, contrary to what many novice authors believe, sales drive reviews, not the other way around.

For whatever reason, the vast majority of avid readers choose to never post a rating or review. Those that do are merely expressing their personal, and therefore subjective, opinion. One reader's Best book ever! may very well be another's Worst book ever!, which is why most astute readers choose to not allow a review or rating to determine their choice of purchases one way or the other.

Focus more upon striving to continuously improve upon your basic writing and narration, promotional, and marketing knowledge and skills and less time obsessing over reviews and the sales will come.

Very few novice authors ever manage to achieve commercial success within this extremely competitive field. That said; some have. There is on reason why you may not eventually become one of them. I wish you success.

Yes, I am enrolled in KDP Select. I wouldn't want to violate Amazon's policy. Are you enrolled in Kindle Unlimited? You can read it for free on there if you are. If not, what would be the easiest way to get a copy over to you?

Can I lend you a copy via email, on Kindle?

My goal isn’t necessarily to achieve commercial success (while I wouldn’t object to it). I just want people to read my story, and an effective way of achieving my pursuit is through reviews.

I 100% agree. My focus should be on improving my writing, and that’s what I’m doing. Thank you for your response!
