Hi,

I've recently republished all eight books (plus a box set and cookbook) in the Getaway Bay Cozy Mystery series, changing the author name from Grace York to Catherine Lee. How do I go about making this change to the books here on Goodreads?

Books on Goodreads keep the original author as the primary author, but we can add the new covers and add the new author name as the secondary author name.

Do they have new ISBNs/ASINs?

I have added Alternate Cover Editions, added "pseudonym" to the name Grace York, and added numbers to the cookbook and compilation.

as the author [Grace York], you can set the default edition of each book, to show Catherine Lee as the author.
I removed "cozy mystery series" from the series title, as that is a descriptor, but I have added that to the series description.

So I need to go into each book using my Grace York author account, add the new cover and the new author name and make those the defaults. Is that right?

Will they then show up on my Catherine Lee author account?

they should show up on both accounts now, but only the primary author can set the default edition. But all the covers are updated. All you have to do is set the default edition.

As the Grace author, you can set the default editions that have Catherine on the cover.

Yes, thank you, that makes sense now. I couldn't see the other editions at first when I was looking as the Grace author.

I've done the updates and I think it's all good now.

So this means that the Grace author profile has to stay on Goodreads as these books will always have Grace York as the primary author? What would happen if I deleted the Grace York Goodreads account?

You cant "delete" that author. The original author remains the primary author. If you choose to contact Goodreads support to remove your "claim" to that author, you may. But the primary author will remain the original author.

Please do not try to edit the author name away, as it will just come back, so it will cause you a lot of work and not accomplish anything. It will only cause cascading problems.
