Alyana | 1064 comments Hi I can definitely share some of my letters if it's needed. For W2, I'm good with 2b. Not sure with space operas, I rarely read scifi but I'll try.

message 452: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments Sorry I just woke up, so the books that we have read for W1 can count on the succeeding weeks as well?

Thea | (unapologetic_bibliosmia) (unapologetic_bibliosmia) Hang on sorry, is there a letter left for week one or no? If no letters left then I can take the ‘read any book’ option as I’ve just finished a few books, if there’s a letter required then I’ll start one.

Count me in for either 2a or 2b. 2b might be the better option just because it's longer.

I don't think I have any on my tbr that take place in the correct spot for the detour, but I'll double check.

Will The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fir for ship based-scifi?" Yep, I'm pretty sure that The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fits the task which is 'a book which has the main location (setting) as a plane or other flying ship'.

Basically, the book doesn't have to be sci-fi, it's just that sci-fi is the 1st thing that comes to mind for where such setting could happen.

Thanks, Thea! I think our today's speed is just due to novelty of Week 1 of our new itinerary for us :) we shouldn't expect our today's speed to last, considering our past experiences :) (and our RL worloads taking toll).

Yep, we're voting for Week 2 but we're still waiting for Stephanie to complete her O for Week 1.

Voting on W2:

☐Read books set in Chile or Punta Arenas (CL) or by authors from Chile
☐Complete a spell-it-out of Chile (2a) or Punta Arenas (2b) (CL)
☐Detour: Read a book which has the main location (setting) as a plane or other flying ship

☑Alyana - 3 or 2b
☐delirious reader - ?
☑Misericordia - 3 (space operas anyone?) or 2b (since 2a is way too short for at least 6 people to read)
☑Saar the Book Owl - 2
☑Stephanie - 2b or 3
☐Storm - ?
☐Thea - ?
☑Bobbi - 3
☑Pooja - 2

No. I was asking if I can use that book because I wasn't sure if the main setting was on a plane. I just based it on the title.

And I just saw your response with my question, my bad. If that can work, I'm okay with 3 then. So sorry, my mind keeps changing.

Yep. Basically, we can start claiming books and reading for them already, since we can bank books. But officially, yep. And we'll have to stay at W2 for another 7 days a minimum.

But that works only if the rest are absent for some reason since we are a team and naturally would want everyone to participate, so practically that usually turns into 6-8 :)

It doesn't really make sense to read for a week twice around. We won't get any additional points or anything. So if we really want a detour we have to choose right the 1st time around :) That's why we do votes and all.

Potentially silly question regarding banked letters and such. Do we have a place that I'm possibly overlooking on the spreadsheet or in general where we're keeping track of letters we've banked other than this thread?

Secondarily, can we bank for detours? For example, I'm reading a book that would fit for Week 2's 2b (if that's what we go with), but it also fits Week 3's detour. So could I decide to hold onto that one in the event that we try for that detour? (I apologize if that question is jumbled up and clear as mud. I have a bad migraine and I've rewritten it like 3 times. It isn't getting any clearer lol)

Nope. Mostly because we all are prolific readers and during the half-year that it usually takes to get through the itinerary, we would all read, like, 50-300 books that would have to be entered into that roll :) Nah, whenever we approach another week, we just select books from our read (in the right interval) or TBR shelves :)

Bobbi wrote: "Secondarily, can we bank for detours? For example, I'm reading a book that would fit for Week 2's 2b (if that's what we go with), but it also fits Week 3's detour. I always try to hold onto books that fit the rarer letters as well :) All those pesky X, Z, Qs :)

Basically, we could read already 1-2 leters / detours from each week and then enter them as we start each week :)

Bobbi wrote: "I have a bad migraine" I'm so sorry about that :( Whenever I get those I'm just off the planet for indeterminate time :((( Hope it passes soon!

Hi! Welcome to the team!

Alyana explained everything perfectly. We are in the process of finishing Week 1 (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... where 1 reader is reading for the last letter) and are selecting the task for Week 2 https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/....

We usually have to select between the task of reading books set in some country or by an author from that same country (1) OR a spell-out of that country or a city in there (2) OR a detour - an unrelated task which could be massive fun if selected properly (3).

All our tasks for the current itinerary are posted here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/....

Our tasks and points and everything are posted on our spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/.... You are welcome to request access for it and you'll have it. Also, I'm doubling our reading statuses and tasks and everything in posts on this thread.

We can read ahead and bank book until we want to use them. So, if you, for instance, finish W2 and want to read for W9, you are most welcome to it.
