Trisha (trishadunbar) In 2019 I realised that I hadn't really read any books! So in January 2020, I decided to set a goal to read 52 self-development books in 52 weeks .

I am not sure about you, but it's so easy to read and forget. So I set myself another goal to have at least one key take away from each book to actively apply to my life! I found in doing this I was actually able to remember much more of the books.

Lockdown has had some benefits as I am now on book 87, lol. My new personal goal now is to read another 52 books. What personal reading targets have you set yourself for this year?

Why not challenge yourself and take the 52|52 pledge you can do so via Goodreads.

What have I learned so far from doing this challenge ...

1). A lot of self-development books seem to have a core thread running through them that seems to be based on Stoic philosophy.

2). Sometimes we actually set our own barriers in life and have a tendency to keep going down the same path as it's familiar to us. True growth happens when we take the path with the obstacle in the way!

3). It's easier to read 52 self-development books in a year than fictional books. Most modern self-development books tend to be arranged in bite-sized chunks.
