Jane (PS) | 24334 comments 1. Introduce yourself to your team. Let your team members know where you are from. This is a great to know when themes are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.

2. Jedi - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)

3. Name your team. Using this round's theme of Disney+, come up with a team name. We are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)

Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by early Wednesday 4 September.

4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2.

5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including names to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!

* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full within that post.

You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.

I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.

Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.

6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation.

7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.

8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.

9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)

10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A Annoucement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.

The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week if Option 2 is used, members must select their book from another team. This will be advised in the week 11 announcement.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Key selection and completion post information. You must have ALL elements in your book posts.

The format for selection posts Option 1:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
How the book qualifies - please link or name the qualifying bookshelf/list where applicable (link if possible).
If the theme is based off the bookcover, post the cover. If there is a letter count in the title, publication date etc, please note these details.

The format for selection posts Option 2:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.

Format for completion posts:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Rating (1-5)

Please DO NOT CHAT in these selection/completion posts. It needs to be super clear.

If you 'waffle' about your decided book - please REPOST your selection once you decide. DO NOT go back and edit your waffling post.

Hi Team 5!!

Please take a few moments to introduce yourselves.

I'm Cyndee and I'm in Ohio in the US. Mom of 3, with my two oldest just having left for college after being home 24/7 since March, so the house has suddenly gotten VERY quiet. I've participated in several previous rounds of Pass the Parcel and I think I've captained all but my very first time. I'm a pretty laid back/non-competitive type but I have no problem racing toward the finish for the win in the last round if the whole team is on board!

I've always got at least two books going (one audio and one print) and average about a book a day. I'm a sucker for romance (of course, since that's what this group is about!) and like almost all genres therein (I have to be in the right mood for paranormal). My favorite troupes tend to be the more taboo with student/teacher probably my absolute favorite. Outside of the romance, I also enjoy a great psychological thriller, some true crime, the occasional historical fiction, and biographies of my favorite people.

Tell me about you and please let me know what time zone you're in (I'm in EST). Also, any ideas you have for a Disney+ themed team name are appreciated!

bamaace83 | 1259 comments Cyndee, you're stuck with me for another challenge. Eek! I promise that I'll stay on top of things. This one is easy....as long as the tasks like me.

Hey everyone, I'm Anna. I live outside Louisville Ky and work for a pediatric medical clinic so I never truly got to experience staying home like most others but let me tell you I was ready for my husband to go back to work after staying home for 12 weeks. Whew! It's just him, myself, and our dog, Trooper, who sometimes can be extra needy. I've played lots of rounds of PTP and I always enjoy it. I read quite a few books and also always have an audio and a regular going at the same time. I read almost any romance and I've slowly begin to widen my reading horizons. I'm still not a fan of sci-fi but love a good thriller. I'm on Eastern time zone also. Hmmm, I'm so not good at team names. I keep going back to something Hamilton related since that was such a big thing this summer. Something around "The Room Where it Happened" or maybe "How Do I Say No To This". I'm not good at piecing things together at all.

Sexyladi | 2252 comments Hi everyone I am Lillian aka Sexyladi. I live in Chi Town, work graveyard shift at the Post office. I have been with my husband for 42 years have 3 children, 2 boys and a girl and 4 grand children 2 boys and 2 girls. I read contemporary, paranormal, reverse harems, menage, MFM , biracial, multicultural, sports, suspense romance. I can read up to 5 to 6 books a week depending on my read time.

message 13: by Nikitha (new)

Nikitha | 500 comments Hey guys! I'm Nikitha and I'm from Chennai, India. I was supposed to have finished my undergraduate degree this year but since my state has been in lockdown for about 6 months now, I'm waiting to write my exams. In the meantime I've started exploring Goodreads and finding fun challenges to do. This is my first PTP so I may have a lot of questions and help through the weeks would be much appreciated!
I love reading romance, fantasy and mystery but open to any new suggestions. One book a week is ideal for me in this challenge because I like to read other books simultaneously. I'm also rubbish at coming up with names but I am obsessed with Hamilton right now so if we come up with nothing else, I'm happy to go with Anna's options!
Also I'm in Indian Standard Time (IST)

I'm Susan I've lived in Las Vegas my whole life (55 years) I have been married to my husband for 34 years. We have 7 kids (6 boys and 1 lonely girl LOL she could kick all my boys butts because they would let her 😜) I also have 12 grand kids. I have been an avid reader for my whole life but only got into all genres about 4 years ago, I love fantasy, mystery/thriller and pretty much everything else. Not a huge fan of horror. Other then that there isn't much else to tell

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 1067 comments Hello *waves* everybody! I'm so happy to have been put on this team.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Cyndee. Love to play on a team with you again as well. :)

A little about myself...
I'm very happily married to a wonderful, loving, nurturing man. We have 5 children (2 boys, 3 girls), 21 grandchildren (11 boys, 10 girls), and 5 greats (3 boys, 2 girls). Only my husband and I live in our home now plus our 2 dogs, Rocky and Jazzy.

I'm a retired high school teacher, thank God! I could not do all the online distance teaching because I'm all but completely inept on a computer. I retired in May 2017 and up until January after returning from a trip to Florida and subsequently being "sheltered in place" in California on March 19, I have traveled extensively. WE had a trip planned to Arizona for mid April we had to cancel, we were going to Cairn Banff, Canada July 27 for 2 weeks that we had to cancel, and others that I won't bore you with. Once I know I can travel mostly safely again I'll hit the road.

I've played PtP at least 3 times and I love it. I think the name you all have liked is a good one.

Thanks for listening and for having me. :)

We have our first task! (And I'm still hoping Nicole is going to make it to join us). 😁

Week 1

Option 1:
8. The Star Wars movies are a major attraction to the streaming service.

* Read a book with Science Fiction as a main page genre (MPG) OR read a book with a title of no more than eight letters. Eg Bond, Kaleb, Desire, I Was Here
Series titles do not count for this task.
You must specify which option you are using in your post when showing 'how it fits'.

Option 2:
Key date - 4 March 2020
A book on your team mates 'read' list AND rated at least 3 stars and read on or after the key date.

Option 3:
Pass
This can only be used once each 5 weeks. Only one team mate can use this option each week.

Please use the format in MESSAGE 3 for your selection and completion posts.

Sorry for the delay! The hyphen wouldn't count as a letter so you should be good. If you ever have specific questions about what fits the task, Jane makes the ultimate decisions over in the Q&A thread (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...). I can only make guesses, but I think in this case it's a pretty safe bet.

(And that's a cute book. I hope you love it!!)

War and Miriam were very intriguing characters. Both were like opposite attract, light and dark and good an evil. That both were set on their agenda, war constantly destroying mankind and Miriam appalled and constantly trying to stop War and the killing. Their were so many twist and turns in its book the more I was going to stop reading (listening) the better the storyline got them I couldn't put it down. This book is not for everyone but I did enjoy it even with the darker side.

Book- Awk-Weird
Rating- 3 stars
Review- Nothing in the book stood out for me. Characters don't try to resolve issues at all, just keep talking about how temporary their relationship is. Some parts were funny and I learnt a lot of trivia but otherwise, average read for me.
